If youhave axle stands and a trolley jack - and about 4hrs (easy) it can be done
Cooling system drained, car raised into air - Driver side wheel and arch out *ease of viewing mostly* - Engine supported - Enigne mount removed, Engine belt covers off
- time engine up with timing marks provided - Remove belt - remove water pump - clean pump facings - Refit new pump - refit new belt while your there - Resecure covers and engine mounts - Refill cooling system - bleed very very well
The 8v is a safe engine, so you can cheap out on the cambelt but, personally you might as well swap belt while you are there to start with!
The puntos are a swine sometimes to bleed up - gurgaling on start up means air is still trapped and needs bleeding some more
What makes you think the pump has gone anyway?
has the thermostat also been replaced?
