I have to fit a new water pump on my daughters 1997 1100 Punto, advice would be greatly appreciated as I have not done this particular job before.
Thank you

Re: Graham

I think the cam belt has to come off, i know a couple of people on here have just replaced a water pump themselves so I'm sure they can help you. If your not confident with the cam belt and the timing may be worth taking it to a garage. Someone has just messed up their timing replacing the water pump

I done an HG on a mk1 a couple of years ago only to find out later that the timing on these is actually quite hard to get right on refitting(seems that rather than setting from TDC the pistons should be lined up half up/down on these which i believe is why so many seem to screw up what seems an easy DIY belt change....EDIT...The 16 v not the 8 v....(I ve never got round to conforming this so dont take it as gospel... but do wait for good advice or use service manual. as for me i guess i was lucky in my ignorance on that occasion)

Once your homework is done on the belt change the water pump is straight forward enough.

good luck
