Went to Macs last night, on the way back there was a big cloud coming from my car, firstly thought engine oil... oh dear blown engine.
Then I noticed temp gauge shooting up, car still driving ok, got home popped the hood and saw no water in exp' tank.
Waited for it to cool thinking head gaskets gone, then put hose in top of expansion tank and turned water on slowly, after a few seconds water starts coming out of engine at back of block but I can't see from where. What water pipes are at the back of the engine i.e near car bulkhead/windscreen'ish is it heater pipes or what? I stripped battery out and lots of the airflow pipes thinking I could take the inlet manifold off or the intake plenum bit, but its an absolute nightmare.
Can I access these pipes from under the car...?

By the way its a Marea 155 weekend with that VIS engine stuff...

Help......

from memory there is 1 that goes from the thermostat housing to the opposite side of the back of the block, this is visable from underneath but you will need to remove the undertray.

i'd suggest you get the undertray off, stick the hose in the expansion tank and get underneith to see where its comming from.

Cheers Bulldog, just finished putting it back together, will have a look underneath tommorow.
I am seriously pissed off with it, I've just spent nearly £2k on the f...ing thing lately and it does this to me, ungratefull f..ing car, maybe I'll px it or sell it..??

After all the work was done the uprated clutch turned out to be bent and ended up being replaced with standard Valeo one. The car absolutely flies and is super smooth, would highly recommend getting flywheel lightend and ballanced, the difference is amazing pulls really well through out the rev range and not lumpy at all.

Bulldog not sure how much they took off left it to machinist to do but told him its not a race car and keep it sensible.
Does rev alot easier, big difference is in day to day driving, floor the peddle and it moves, the biggest benefit is how smooth it is now.
Not sure how much faster it is and wether its all down to flywheel, don't forget I had the head cleaned up and 3 angle seats done to the valves plus they skimmed the head which will bring up the compression ratio up slightly.
Having said all that I do feel I've lost some top end power, but I am talking 110mph plus region, probably benefit from a custom remap, but can't afford at the moment.
If your getting the clutch done then I would recommend getting the flywheel lightend and balanced If you can afford get the whole bottom end done but your talking big money then.

Yep found the leak and its in the most akward spot imaginable, apperently ENGINE OUT JOB.....?????!!!!!
Its not the pipe its the cast ali' elbow that bolts to the block, will have a really good look tommorow, seriously pissed of now possibliy very expensive job if garage do it.
