When undertaking the mod to prevent said water ingress,

Be very careful when trying to remove the seized onto spindle wiper arms!!

As under the plastic scuttle around the spindle,
The windscreen drops quite low!!!

Hopefully I will finish the mod, on Monday

After new screen fitted :-/

D'OH! Lol

3 new drain pipes fitted (replacing the two std ones and extra one in middle, using pipe fittings and garden hose :)

P Seal to fit and new clips and fix centre join once screen replaced :)

Just to say,
Van is 2012 3.0 180 euro 5

Had new turbo, variable vein actuator, wiring repairs still on going, glow plug, seized and snapped glow plug replaced,

4 weeks off road on and off since January

Hope this will fix the issue before warranty runs out end of year :-/

If your buying brand new mate, the new facelifted 2024/15 models have a new design and I've been promised they do not have the problem any more,

Going to test this though with salesman holding a running hosepipe onto screen before I sign up for one :)

From the brochure it is a new design scuttle trim

The "old" X250 had water ingress problems from its release in 2007 until 2013. The factory has been aware of it, they added a strip of dual sided tape but that was just a temporary solution. Whether or not the 2014 facelift solves the problem remains to be seen, it will probably take a year or two to develop other leaks.

I added two small deflectors to keep the rain from filling the tub where the injectors are. A tin plate that guides the leakage of the seam in the plastic trim away from the engine and a plexiglass one under the A/C air intake. The tub remains dry now.
