Technical Water in the boot

I have found the carpet in my 2000 1.6 100 sx soaking with water. I have removed all the carpets & side panels, dried it all up and then wet the back of the car. There was a pool of water on the drivers side of the car beside the wheel arch. Any ideas as to how it got there. I thought that it was coming in from the petrol cap but i put silicon around the rubber and there is still water getting in. I dont think that its getting through the boot lid. Are there any common problems with this?

try sealing the rubber seal around the outside of the boot hatch. it may also be comming in from the rear window seal.

Rear lights sometimes leak. If you can't find where its coming from a liberal sprinkling of talcum powder around the inside will track it down.
(Dont forget to take out as much trim as possible first)
