I have a pre-MOT check Thursday. Hoping there's no show-shoppers.

FYI: Here's the results of my pre-MOT. No show-stoppers thankfully :). Not bad for an '01 Multi...
Including: brakes and emission checks as per the MOT:

- Rear brake flexi-hoses insecure: just need cable-tieing.

- Suspension arms: No surprise. Got one on Ebay, will order the other.

- Tyres: Knew about inside tyre wear. Tracking's way out. New arms, tyres and tracking will fix.

- Front brake flexi hoses: £7-50 + VAT local motor factor. Garage: 1 hrs labour. Never done 'em. Not looked yet. Easy job? Spanner either end of hose to undo? Replace and bleed? Can anyone advise?

- Mid-exhaust: £84 fitted inc VAT local garage. Booked tomoz. Part only: £50 + VAT local motor factor(s).

- OS headlamp aim low: controls probably gummed up, tester says bulb might need seating properly.

- Brakes OK: I've got the gear anyway, but if it ain't broke...

- Emissions OK: However, tester said new MOT regs coming in about May time, including: engine warning light ON - maybe failure. Disconnecting MAF may not be legit... nudge, nudge, wink, wink... ;)

- Advisory: Headlamp cracked, N/S wing mirror missing, oil sump leak: *not* MOT failures.

Could've been a lot worse.

Costs:

- Front wishbones: 2 x £50 (Birth, Ebay)

- Front tyres: part-worn local: 2 x £15-£30 each, fitted

- Front flexi-hoses: 2 x £7-50, say £20 inc

- Centre exhaust: £84 fitted inc

- Replacement NS headlamp: local scrapyard: £30 (already been round to scrapyard to check)

- Replacement NS mirror: ditto: £15

- MOT: £30

- Tracking: £30

TOTAL: ~£369 (better than last year: ~£800)

PS. The pre-MOT was 20 quid.
