Hi,

Have a few questions about my warranty / servicing schedules, which i'm hoping some of you more experienced FFs might be able to answer.

Car was first registered on 30/3/2012, pre-registered, I bought it with zero miles on it 14/9/2012.

I'm now getting reminders in from Arnold Clark that it's first service is due - they want £165 for it, but oh they they'll do it for £140 :yum: LOL.... aye right.

The car has 4k miles on it, it doesn't even need an oil change yet, let alone a full first service ! The book shows first service interval is 30000km (~18k miles, right ?) and notes for low mileage simply an oil & filter change should be done every 12 months.

Basically, I think I'm asking what is the minimum I need to do to maintain the warranty, given the low mileage ? Do i need to do it now, or can it wait until september ? Also, anyone know anywhere good in Glasgow that will do it for labour only, if I supply the parts ? I can get a genuine oil filter, oil and pollen filter from shop4parts, pretty cheap. AC have admitted that any VAT registered garage can do it.

Thanks,
Chris.

You have to read the Fiat Warranty / Service Book very carefully for all the T&Cs.

Your safest solution is to go for a low mileage service from data of first registration. Yes I know your car mechanically doesn't need a service yet but unless Arnold Clark / Fiat Customer Services tell you this (preferably in writing) then it is better to protect your 3 year warranty by having the service interval schedule followed from date of 1st registration. 1st registration date is the key/effective point for warranty related and service related matters.

Exectly, so you've just contradicted the first part of your post with the latter ;)

An oil and filter change is all that is required. Get it done at a local indie thats VAT registered, with genuine parts, for probably about £50-£70, and your warrantee will remain intact (y)
