right i started up the 1.9tdi wait for the glow plug light to go off and all good then started it up and got the glow plug light flashing and a warning saying about the glow plugs.will this be ok to drive about the weekend till i can get my mech to get new plugs and fit them and while he is there i might as well get a full service done because its due next month so its tiptop for the winter time(y)

cheers stewart

It's a bit of a myth glow plugs do nothing in modern cars unless its really cold, if like me you jump in the car and turn it over forgetting to let the plugs do there job then this time of year when the cooler nights are setting in and cold mornings you soon notice that some times you can churn the car for a good few seconds before it will start.

If the light is flashing then chances are one or more plugs are failing but if you're getting it fixed in the week then it's unlikely to cause you too much problem just be aware it might get a bit harder to start

cheers guys,i will get them sorted out next week as its the wifes car and getting the kids to school and my daily driver while the evo is put away from the cold weather:)

Seconded. Same happens with my Bravo, even with the temp in double figures.

Took a little while to get used to at first being my first DERV daily driver :p

I'll be interested when we hit the freezing temps to see how much longer the glow plugs stay activated for before the light extinguishes :)
