Technical Warning buzzer under dashboard

Hi All

We were away in our 2 litre petrol camper van and suddenly got a warning buzzer under the dashboard that stopped on removing the indicater 10amp fuse. We removed a wire from the buzzer (there were 3) that was already loose. That seemed to solve the problem and indicators etc are all fine. Im guessing weve disabled a warning feature. Does anyone know if thats a mistake and what we should do

I am struggling to think of anything on an x230 base vehicle that would be annunciated by a buzzer under the dash. Turn signals are a possibility, and would fit with removing the 10A indicator fuse, but I think that you would recognise such a buzzer.

You mention 3 wires connecting to the buzzer. Were all three wires on the same terminal, with a fourth wire on a second terminal, or was it two plus one?

Does you vehicle have a step for the habitation door? Even manually operated steps can have warning lights or buzzers.

Disabling a warning that has an unknown purpose, is generally not a good idea.

Thanks for your thoughts. There is a definite buzzer about the size of a golf b all, clearly visible one the dash is lowered. Our engine is 2 litre petrol

You have not addressed my question as to the placement of the connecting wires. Does the buzzer appear to be original, or added? Another possibility for an added buzzer is as an engine over temperature warning. A previous owner may have decided that the standard warning light was insufficient.

Perhaps a photo and/or part number may help.

If the vehicle has a towbar, it is a UK legal requirement to have an audible/visual indicator to verify that the towed trailer indicators are working. Not sure if it can be either/or, if it's one of those it may be malfunctioning due to a short, or even just water ingress somewhere.
