Cheers Nico

Is it worth the trouble over a standard k&n, Pipercross induction kit?

Re: viper induction kit

I wouldn't let my remarks on the installation put you off getting one nige (especially since you now know what I struggled with).

For me it was purely an issue of noise. I wasn't bothered about flashy (red) painted bits under the hood and you can keep your carbon fibre heatshields. All I wanted was a better filter to compliment the performance of my new exhaust. I'd actually bought a K&N and would have put it on, but I held off whilst I was trying to tame the noise from my exhaust.

After so many on here pointed out just how noisy the regular induction kits are, I opted for this enclosed Viper system to keep the noise to a minimum, although I'm still not sure I could have justified the cost if it weren't for the claims they make about performance. I meant to have a rolling road done since I fitted it, but I havn't re-set the ECU since either, so until I do that and run it in, I'll not be able to determine what the true gain might have been.

Re: viper induction kit

Oh, and one thing I'v since realised, worthy to note.
I described in that post about installation how I ended up mounting the ducting laterally ie. it faces into the grill compartment from the side, rather than facing front/outward.

If you were to direct the intake facing front, I suspect it's entirely likely (especially when your car is lowered as mine is)that the strength of the intake suction could suck up water from traffic spray in heavy rain ahead of you, or perhaps when travelling down minor roads through deep puddles! So projection of the opening sideways on, as it turns out was, was probably the best way of positioning the intake opening.

Re: viper induction kit

Cheers for that Nico, like you said its not a cheap item so its gonna be held off till after Chrimbo, but its on my list for the new year!
It'll give me a month to prepare myself for the ass of an install, but at least ive got your guide to go by!

Thanks Again
Nige
