General vin number position

hello folks,
everything i read says the vin number is stamped to the left of the petrol tank, however mine is to the right in the same position any ideas?

Without trying to be a smartarse, the side of the car is identified when you look from the back to the front. Hence my car is RHD.

My VIN is on the LHS of the firewall, above the fusebox and brake master cylinder.

My car is LHD and the vin is stamped on right above where the jack sits

It depends on the model... my 500D's (Giardiniera) are on the RHD Driver's side (Left when looking from front) and 500F's are on the opposite side. I don't believe there is any difference between RHD and LHD- location maybe due to fuel tank size and location?
