In another thread RobW (Thanks Rob) posted a link to this web site for the MS Design 500 CUP SC

I've got to be honest and say I really like it, but I'm still learning about 500's and the various versions out there, so I'd like to know a wee bit more about it from those who have much more experience on 500's.

May I ask, has anybody here seen one "in the flesh", have you heard first hand reports about the car / company - or do you have a view as to the rights or wrongs in this version?

Any opinions would be very much appreciated.

WB. ;)

I like the wide arches, the skirts and the back of it but the front looks odd to me, it's far too busy. If they'd have left it as having a single lip rather than a split one it would look much better.

Thanks B - I tried a "search" before posting the thread, but obviously I'm a donkey as I didn't get any hits. This internetty thing still throws me a curve ball now and again.

ms designs where the company who made the bodykits for the linea race punto's,and this is the kit fitted to alpines demo car so quality should be good, bear in mind though the bumpers are just "over bumpers" whereas they are bonded ontop of the originals imho it looks too close to the abarth and the cost of adding the kit to a stock 500 off any trim/engine spec you will be spending virtually the same or more as an abarth which offers the looks and has the performance to match, an abarth with the ms spoiler would look nice and be a little different (y)

I had to use a domain search from google to find the bodykit thread because the FF search won't recognise ms because it's too short.
I couldn't find it at first either. lol

It's 2 different packages together I think.
A ms Design bodykit and the JCR Racing supercharger kit.
A few people had views on both.

The bodykit here.

The supercharger kit here.

Links in both now dead but the comments and views are still valid.

i have it on good authority that the supercharger is definitely not from JCR, and power is in the region of 200 bhp!

go along and see it this weekend - Classic Car Show at the NEC on the Longlife stand

looks awesome and pure evil in black

Good idea Rob, but I'm too far away to get there at such short notice.

However its got to be worth me e-mailing the company and asking if they are attending any events closer to Scotland - or even in Scotland itself!

I might have to head along to that, I work in the airport so I can get free parking there and just hop across on the monorail. Then again, it's £17 and I'm running low on cash...

I have seen the black one that Nigel has from Nuova500Shop / Angel tuning.

I like it, although tbh it's out of my price range, the cost is not something I could hide from wife, and I am sure she would not sign off my purchase request.

My son thinks it looks great too !

the jcr supercharger kit costs £3,500 +vat and gives around 140bhp but looks a complete chuff because the bonnet wouldn't fit so the supercharged cars have an ugly bonnet bulge/scoop, the other is by italian car tuners novitec and gives 131bhp don't know the cost though but they do them for panda's punto's and bravo's they also tune ferrari's, so who are the people doing this "200bhp" supercharger kit

the 500 Cup SC is available from Nuova500shop

We get that. But where does this kit come from for the supercharger. is it a nouva500shop original or a different suppliers kit used ion conjunction with the MS-Desing bodykit.

I'd be very interested in the mechanics of the supercharger kit, as doubling the power of the 1.4 is either a massive feat of engineering or a timebomb with a fuse as long as a fireworks.

if you are genuinely interested why not contact them, I am sure they would be delighted to help

The plot thickens. The cup body kit which you can have on it's own fitted for £6000.
Only has one offical dealer in the UK. Not Nouva500shop. So there claim of being fitted by MS-Design techs seems at odds with the MS-Design website. £6k for the kit leaves £5K for the supercharger kit barring any discounts. I call BS on claims of 200BHP with any sort of reliability.

My advice to anyone is don't. Your warranty will be voided and a warranty would be considered a good thing 5 minutes after yuo drive away with your 200bhp supercharged 500 built with an engine designed to handle 100bhhp. When it explodes in a puff of smoke.

TO be honest the whole idea with the information at hand stinks.
