very odd noise behind glovebox

I have noticed a really wierd noise coming from behind my glovebox a few times now. It happens usually when the car is stationary and is a kind of tapping / clonking noise. I usually hear about 6 taps, at a frequency of about 1 tap a second, then it stops.

I am totally stumped as to what this can be, does anyone have any ideas?
