Vauxhall nut with a misfiring punto

Hi all, ive just bought a 2001 Punto 1.2 8v with a missfire for the other half. Just trying to do my research before i start getting my hands dirty with it. From what ive read so far it could be coil packs or an ecu fault.
Is there any sure fire way to diagnose either fault, there is a code stored in the ecu but cant remember what it is so will double check today.

Ive had 16 vauxhall vectra bs and heavily involved with vvoc.com and vectra-sport.com so all this Fiat stuff is new to me lol.

Fingers crossed with this Punto, its to replace a rotten Fiesta......i know.....FORD, cant expect anything else.
