Dose any one know what clutch gos in a fiat seicento sporting on a 2000 x reg. Is it a c514 or a c526. Cos there is two different type. Thanks if any one can help me

Re: hi

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Sportings used the C514 and the non-Sportings the C526 (the non-sporting box being the wet driveshaft type).

Re: hi

Chances are that it's a C514.

The C526 is the so called "wet shaft" gearbox fitted to some 1108s, but, AFAIK, no Sportings.

Easy way to tell, the C514 has a reverse detente on the gearlever (you have to pull up -- or push down -- can't remember which -- to get reverse), while the wet shaft C526, cursed be its name, does not.

You might consider buying parts from a specialist like eurocarcare in Derby or Shop4Parts, either of which will be able to match parts to VIN. You'll probably save a little money and a lot of hastle.

Google will find.

Having said all that, I'm pretty sure that the clutches on all 1108 cars are the same. The 899 ones are different, though.

Not sure why he didn't reply here, but "tonybbj" has left two messages on my profile, which I'll copy here:
Hi I'm not sure. I've only had the car last month. I heard the cluchs go on them all the time and the cluch cable snaps.
and
I wish I never got the car now lol. I phoned fiat and they don't have a glue what clutch gos in. I need to buy a clutch Thursday.

Re: hi

Yes I need to lift up the thing on the gear stick to put it in reverse. So it would be the c514 then is it I need to get

Re: hi

Mention the forum and you'll probably get it at better than trade.

The clutches last 60k miles and up (thrust bearings tend to go first). The trick to long clutch life is, whenever the car is at a standstill, pop it into neutral, release the clutch pedal.

Just like your driving instructor taught you.

Re: hi

I don't even know if it is my cluch. It might be cable. It don't go in to gears that easy. Especially reverse. It crunchs all the time I put it in reverse.

Re: hi

You could try adjusting the cable before buying parts but its usually a sign the clutch is on way out when the cable starts requiring adjustments. If you change it you wanna be changing the clutch, thrust bearing and cable in one go though. ;)

Re: hi

Could just be adjustment. The adjuster is just in front of the clutch arm on top of the gearbox (nylon nut thingy).

Try two clicks clockwise (looking from front of car).

Like all cable operated clutches (except a few Rovers) it needs periodic adjustment.

Remember, there's no syncromesh on reverse, so, neutral, 1 and 2 and 3 (count) reverse.

Re: hi

Do you think I should change the cable to. What eles gos wrong with the fiat sportin.

Re: hi

Sorry. Cos the cluch isa bit hard to pit in to gear. Especially reverse it crunchs. This cluch thing is doing my head in I phoned national auto. And there saying it the c526 what gos in my car for def
