Don't let anyone tell you that Fiats are built on the cheap. It took some half-wit to actually stand on my wing mirror before it broke (that'll teach me to buy a place with on-street parking only). And, the only damage to the car itself is a scratch where the police turned the unit over to stop it flapping about. When I dismantled the unit I found that most of the parts that bolt onto the bodywork are cast aluminium. Trouble is, this is the bit that broke.

All other parts, except for the mirror glass, are untouched so I was wondering if it was possible to obtain the aluminium bit separately. If so, would any one know the Fiat part no? And the price?

I've tried a couple of online searches for spare parts, with no luck, perhaps because the Marea is a comparatively rare car. By the virtually identical responses, I get the feeling that the search is too narrow.
So, in the interests of knowing what to look for when I get to a scrapyard....

I always thought that the Bravo/a/Marea were virtually the same car, but I've just found that the mounting for the door mirror on the Bravo is about an inch longer than the one on my car. Is this because of the longer door, and am I likely to find the Brava is a better fit. If this is the case, then I will try extending my search to include Brava's.

Can anyone confirm that the Brava is the same as the Marea in the wing mirror area?

Hi ArButton and welcome to the forum :)

Sorry to hear about your car. The Brava and Marea are virtually the same from the B pillar forwards, the exceptions being the HGT and HLX models. I would expect them to be the same but cannot guarentee it. I'll see if I can find some part numbers to compare.

Thanks for that.
Reading between the lines of what you say, I get the impression that the aluminium mounting plate/triangular bit is not a part of the mirror assembly - is that so?
Does this have a separate part number? - because this is all that I need to replace.

The Brava and Marea ones are identical with the Bravo ones being more steeply angled. As such, the Bravo ones wont fit but Brava ones do.
Unfortunately, the plates are not orderable seperately from the mirror so it's a complete replacement I'm afraid. :(

However, if you have electric mirrors and the mirror part/casing is OK you can buy the manual ones (much cheaper) and swap the internals as I have just done on my Bravo. :) Saves getting the mirrors painted again. :)

Powerfiat.com were having a clearout on these so they may be worth a look.

I ordered a n/s mirror yesterday at 3pm from WWW.SHOP4PARTS.CO.UK. The parcel arrived today and contains everything associated with the wing mirror, right down to the little rubbery wotsit that adjusts the mirrror from inside, and including the plastic trim from inside the door.

All for £40. And I expected to pay at least a ton to Fiat.

As I've now got a spare mirror outer, I might have a go at painting it the same colour as the bodywork.

Course, if it wasn't an SX it would have coordinated mirrors anyway.
