Which exact turbo model is used by Van Aaken on the 1.1 1.2 kits ? Is there two different turbos for the low and high boost?

I would like to make by myself a turbo kit with results like Emma's, for the beginning low boost, a bit of power increase, no engine opening... A reliable daily driver with something more under the hood :)

I'm from Italy and I live in Italy, so even the littlest modification is illegal, and then insurance virtually "is not" a problem... :D

I was thinking to go low boost and without opening the engine only for the begininng and only 0,3 bar. Any next step is with lowering compression and all the thing around (only must choose the way, 16v pistons, decomp plate, machining head and/or pistons etc etc).

my opinion is dont even look at van aaken or any other turbo kits and do it yourself.

even if you follow your gut feeling you will end up with better then what they came up with.

imho... the manifold is crap, the pistons machined for high boost where crap, the turbo was VERY crap.

think the best bit was the intercooler... rest is gash

Ye ye I want to do it myself! For sure, it's the only cheap and reasonable price way ;)

I just wanted to know which turbo was used there, but I'm thinking to get a GT1544 GT1549 (don't know exactly the numbers, but something like that) from a Fiat JTD 105 engine (should be the easiest to get here in italy by old car yards) (don't know how it's called the place where the old cars become cubes of metal :D ).

Or maybe an TDI 90hp turbo should be good too...

The Astra 1.7 is Astra is not good, RHB3 or something, the woj's turbo in other words :)

Scrapyards (y)

It's RHB4, it does the job, but it is literally on the edge of its capabilities.
