V5 document help

not too sure where best to post this so..

basically my old corsa has been written off it cannot go back on the road, ive been paid out but got to keep the car, my friend wants it, he knows all the limitations of a car in its position along with the damage. my question is how do i sort out my v5?

ive read through it and slightly confused the closet option i can think of is section 9, 'selling or transferring your vehicle to a motor trader, insurer or dismantler'. thing is whilst insurance paid out they do not have the car in their possession i still own it, my friend wants the car as salvage but he is not a motor trader but just your average joe. how do i fill this out?

I presume that he is not registered for vehicle dismantling?
And the car is a category B right off? If it is a cat A then you cannot remove parts from it and it must be scrapped

If cat B then the body shell must be destroyed yes you can sell parts off it but not the shell.
sell it to a proper scrap yard you get the paper work done.
The reason being is that it is now an end of life car, an has to be scrapped, as your mate isn't a trader he has no legal right to dismantle the car which would require strict adherence to environmental protection laws you have to be Licenced basically.

As its your car you can remove what you want before you scrap it, then call the scrap yard tow truck.

Selling it too your mate could land you in trouble especially if the car finds its way back on to the road as a whole or as a ringer. (your mate thinks he's making a fast buck but selling it to a car crime gang)

Scrap it properly get the paper work and you never know there's a good chance you'll get more money from a scrap yard than your mate so ring around a few or even try webuyanycar.com who I think buy wrecks

just sell it to him as you would normally, he can do the rest when he eventually gets rid of the shell

get him and you to sign 2 copies of a receipt that says sold for spares only
