I got an USB stick with mp3's plugged into my B&M system
It works great but there's one strange thing.

When I park the car with the stick still in it and start it after afew hours the USB stick is not detected.
I have to remove it wait a while and plug it back in.
Sometimes multiple tries before it's detected again.

I tested it with a couple of different USb stick but they all have the same issue.
Is this a kown issue with the B&M system?

I used to have similar issues when I used a 16GB stick on B&M 5.5 in my GP.

I switched to an 8GB stick the same time I upgraded to B&M 5.6, and since then things have been a lot more stable.
I can't honestly say whether it's due to the smaller USB stick or the software upgrade though.

I have downloaded version 5.6.
But when it's installing I get the error USB10.
According to the manual this means that version 5.5 is not yet installed.

It should be version 5.5 on it as that's the version I downloaded the last time.
But I tried again and put 5.5 on the USB stick.
Same error code when installing.

To be sure I want to check the current version.
But how to check this?

I got no menu options that show the current version.

Any ideas?

Is the stick fat32?
Try it on a small capacity stick.

make sure nothing else is on the stick.

Yes it's a FAT32 stick, 256Mb. Even deep level format didn't work.
But after trying a thousand times it worked.
The unit restart and cannot find the stick anymore (exactly the problem I have).
After about 15 times it did find it so now it's running 5.6.
Will have to see if it solves the issue.

What brand of USB stick do you use?
The problem is still there, pretty annoying to reach into the dashboard each drive...

I have just bought a Sandisk 16GB nano USB drive. It has a small LED on it which flashes when powered. 1 in 10 times the drive isn't detected, and there is no LED.
I had the same problem with my generic 2GB stick. My thought is that its a power issue, rather than a read issue.

Hi

In the few weeks I have owned my Fiat I suffered from this problem. When starting the car do you put the key in and turn straight to start?

I did and blue and me doesn't like it (well my one anyway.) I have found if you turn the the on position (MAR on my ignition switch) and leave it there for a few seconds, the music will start playing. Then start the car.

This is 100% reliable for me.

There is then the issue of the file names and ID3 tags. I found the tool BluMeUSB to be well worth 5 euros (just over £4).

Good luck

I alway wait in MAR until my fuel pump is done building up pressure and my glowplug light is off.
It was going pretty well last week but now the memory is full with ECO drive data and the problem retured.
Also the ID tags could be a problem I will run that program.
