Urgent - Power Steering problems

I had a scare in the car earlier going over a mini roundabout... I'd slowed down and gone into second then as I approached the roundabout my power steering just suddenly turned off. The steering was seriously heavy and I wasn't ready for it (so my hands werent placed well enough to exert enough force to turn), I just managed to get around and pull over. Once I'd pulled over I turned off and restarted the engine and it was fine.

This has happened once before coming to a T-junction down my road, I've only had the car a few months (it's a 1.4SX with 25K miles). It didnt start very well coming back from Lakeside earlier either, got Halfords to check my battery & it's fine.

Can anyone help? A couple of lights came on at the bottom centre of the dash, but I don't remember what they looked like cos I was kinda panicking at the time.

Thanks

Sounds like you stalled it or the engine cut out for some reason.

Re: Re: Urgent - Power Steering problems

hello,

you are right Tom! Indicators such battery & oil will appear if the rev is very low (rev less than 100 rpm) & about to stall & cause the steering stiff.
