I'm sure you've bled it right. There isn't much fluid in the clutch system, so if you've got the air out and the clutch works fine then job's a good 'un :)

On to the oil change! Make sure you get the oil specified in the owners' manual. The 1.2 doesn't need anything fancy.

You'll need a 12mm (big) hex / allen key for the sump plug, can be very tight so extra leverage can be helpful. And remember, 'righty tighty lefty loosey' :)

I'd say a hex socket would make life easier than an allen key:

Also be prepared for the oil filter to be tight. I find a filter strap wrench helpful:

It's not a busy road is it? I think I'd rather work in my drive than a public road. Although I guess you have more chance of grabbing some helpful passing dog walkers. Driving up onto boards or planks not an option?

Fiats like to let you think you have fixed there problems but the "gremlins" often just wizz away and hide and have snooze! ready to awaken when you have no money/ your ill/ its pissing with rain!. your partners just left you! etc etc.
goes a bit like this!

You've done the job so now its mended -but the work may not be ended!
Another repair will be needed,so the idea has been seeded! the stress the worry whats the cost?
With out our Fiats we would be lost!.
All the best!

It's not a really busy road. I will see if I can get enough height on the drive, as I need to do that for the rear axle anyway. The issue is people park on the other side sometimes, so if I parked my side, the bus couldn't pass.

The strap is a great idea, thankyou! I have some hex things from when I changed the fan belt thing on the lawn mower last year. Idk if theyre big enough.

Dad defo helped me find his car stuff, so there are bound to be bigger hex things and a wrench in there.

The garage is so bad now, so I walked in, and there was a white sheet. I had the urge to lift it up, and all his car tools were there. The box, the wrench, and a little box, that might be the hex things. I miss him so much.

Thankyou for your help!

omg LOVE this! Yes, I'm skint, and dad was killed in March, and right away bubbles got poorly. I have to pay all the bills now. I had a guy from the local round table get my car from the hospital (dad used to get em drunk every year at xmas.). I had no one else to ask, so asked them. Anyway, she wouldn't start, and that was the start of the gremlins 😭😭😭

Love the poem, so true. I love my baby girl. 🥰🥰🥰

It sounds like you have had a lot to deal with on a personal level of late!- lets hope we can help enough for you to get "bubbles" ( for some reason ours has become "buggy" being bright 🤣 yellow probably dont help!) well enough to provide you with some new GOOD times!.
I am sure that I speak for many of the other members in wishing you well and some better brighter times ahead!.
Might I suggest that you investigate if there is a Fiat owners club anywhere near you? as that would be another source of help from other likeminded souls and perhaps a more physical presence than our mental and spiritual stuff plus never hurts to make new friends and have another source of distraction! club meets rally's days out etc.
All the best.

omg stop being nice, you made me cry! 😭😭😭 Thankyou, that's really good advice, and I will look into it.

I didn't find a club (yet) but I did find this, and will go. Looks fun! I will start a new thread with it too! Ty for the idea.

Looks like a great first step! -have a good day out and post up a few pics and maybe a little story with them!.
As for ideas im full of em and some of em are even good!:unsure:

I get that it’s been a year —— but I enjoyed / needed this thread so much today as I fight to get my battery tray out…….. so I can loosen one single starter bolt!?!?!

Why Fiat why!?!?!

Thanks for the link

I got the tray out - I had read numerous reports along the lines of “be careful with the clips that secure wiring harnesses — they’re very fragile!”

I wish they had been!

It was a struggle

Only had to break one!

On to the starter motor!
Maybe in the morning…..
Thanks again!

woooooo! massive congrats on getting the tray out. its a nightmare! honestly, the bits that you think will be easy end up taking HOOOUUUURRRRRSSSSS, and the scary bits are easy. everyone on ere is lovely, and will help in any way they can.

i do find changing up my swears helps. dont stick to the usual boring ones. 😊

@sherbsville, are you still with us? Is 'Bubbles' up and running? Everything good?!

i dunno how i ended up in this grey box thing, but here we are.
oh, im out of it now.

i keep meaning to darken the forums doors again, as i need to do a few things. i wanna clean those spring things, and im also planning on doing the rear suspension, as its been an mot advisory twice.

i need to do my oil and filter change too, so no doubt a simple thing will go to pot, and i will appear, as if by magic.

i changed the clutch master cylinder earlier this year, and that solved that whole nightmare.

also, my dashboard disco lights have stopped, its just the indicator again now, which is interesting lol

the mileage is still flashing, but i dont even notice!

bubbles needs a bath tho 😭😭😭

thankyou for asking, hoping everythings good with you, and everyone here 🥰

Everything is good with me, thank you.

I just read this topic you opened and I was thinking from the beginning that the master cylinder you need to replace, not the slave, or better yet do them both. Because usually that's how it goes, the master inner seal fails (master has 2 seals) and then it pushes just half the amount of fluid towards slave cylinder. And when slave cylinder fails, fluid drips out of it, you can see it on inspection.
Good thing you figured out that you need to replace the master cylinder and better yet that you did it. Good job!

ooooh awesome, tysm for explaining the why. i just did it, and had no idea what was going on 😝 now i can explain why it worked to ppl, instead of just waving my arms about trying to look convincing. 😬
