Urgent help needed Please. Q.Where the F*** is the connection to hook up the ECU on a HGT

The garage (not Fiat) nr Scunthopre (whos name we shall not mention) is claiming my idle valve is at fault for the now chronic ability for my motor not to idle (since I collected the car from their workshop) ie. it stalls the instant you depress the clutch!

They suspect water has gone up the induction and knackered the motor controlling the valve or summit like. But to find out if it is this, they want to run their own diagnostic.

They say they have spoken to both of the guys I know at Fiat Picadilly, both of whom say the plug for the ECU is somewhere over the wing, but the garage say they have had the water reservoirs and all sorts out, and cannot locate it.

Any guidance on this one – most sincerely appreciated

I think its on your passenger side footwell under the glowe compartement, or drivers side (dont know for UK cars)
But it is deffo in side the car. Under the dash some place.

the ECU fdiagnostic plugs are located next to the passenger-side suspension strut top in the engine bay

If you still cant find it just give Nige a call. I'm sure he'll know where it is.

dENNIS THE MENACE insists it isn't there, where everyone says it should be with the fuse things on that right hand side of the engine bay. Says he's taking it to another local garage who deal more with Fiat, and according to this other garage, the idle valve motor units are known to be problematic / faulty.

Yerrrrr, whatever! (will the nightmare never end!!?)

The 155HGT is on the drivers side under the dash. Only the old cars have the 3 prong two wire connector on the turret and some had it behind the black plastic cover on the bulkhead

nico the hgt diagnostic pin is on quite a long wire, its possible it may have slid down the back of the engine hence they cant find it,

if you look near the driver strut top it starts there so they should be able to trace it back if it has dropped down

good luck m8!

the above post was me BTW

the mules back in the fold!

and it runs too.

None of us should have been surprised to find if Fiat had put the link up in the boot I suppose, what with the hundred and one different ways of doing things - they like to invent.

Thanks goes to you all, but especially Nige, who suggested the one place the guys at the shop hadn't looked til nige siad it was under the drivers side dash.

Nige, you're an angel ;)
