Urgent Help Needed. Its gone pete tong

HI everyone.

I was given a Fiat Brava as an early Chrristmas present.

My Dad got it from the auctions so was a bit tatty.

Its a 1.6 100 sx S reg.

We bought a remote central locking from ebay and fitted it without any problems.

The door handles were shot so we bought some new ones from the breakers. As we got remote central locking we bought handles without the locking barrels for a nice look.

Fitted these without a problem.

For Christmas I got a new Kenwood CD stereo.

Whilst trying to remove the Factory fitted stereo the Passenger door locked and would not open. ????????

Got old Stereo out and Driver door locked and would not open.??????

Remote central locking still works. Press button and buttons raise and you can hear mechanism releasing as if unlocked. Back doors open without a problem. Front doors will not open at all from inside or out. Have tried putting original stereo back and have tried with engine running etc but nothing works.

I am back to work tomorrow and need my car. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any help at all will be very gratefully received and much appreciated.

Sounds like you fitted the handles incorrectly. Now i hope you have a set of front door cards spare.

With the doors shut your going to need to smash the old door card away making it unusable. Then getting to the rods in the door and reattaching them correctly.

Lets hope im wrong.

disconnect battery unlock car with key!!! take door cards off simple!!!!

or get in the car from the boot and open the doors from inside as pulling the internal handel unlocks them

check there isnt water in the black connectors between the car and the doors thats normally the cause for dodgy central locking

dont think he can unlock the doors with key, as he has handles without the barrel

Hi everyone and thanks for all your suggestions.

OK

Tried disconnecting battery but did not work. !!

Got really angry and gave the car a good I'm pi**ed off with you shake. OMG Drivers door released. Took off door card and removed the bar that goes to the barrel on the door handel that has jammed the door. Coz new handles have no barrell.

Passenger door still jammed so am going to try using a strong magnet to move the bar and release door. If no joy will have to drill a hole in door card and fix that way and buy a new card.

There is no problem delocking the door handles aslong as you do it correctly.
