General Urgent Brake Help!!!!!

HI

I've just managed to snap one of the bolts holding the caliper onto the shock,:bang: its a 17mm head, 20mm long 10mm thick, fine thread with a washer stuck above the thread.

I really need the car today and tomorrow, :worship:is there anyone in the barnsley/wakefield area that happens to have one spare? :worship:

I'm more than happy to pay if it gets me back on the road today or tomorrow

erm.... lack of concentration while changing the disks and pads, i didn't realise i was tightning it. guess i don't know my own strength.

I'd say the bolt was flawed in some way.

What did you use? a power driver? It took me a 800mm breaker bar to undo the bolts at the front of a Punto to bag my PGT callipers they were done up that tight & the bolts were literally burning hot!

i just used 2 spanners joined together, i'm only 11st, but throwing 100kg logs of vinyl and banner around, i'm stroger than you'd think.

i'd still take you on
no scrappers or even fiat dealers nearby? could be wrong but most likely a common part in many fiats

Alfas too. Scrappy or -- if you can find one open -- fastener place. A FIAT dealer will have them in stock, you're supposed to change them (not that anyone does).

youd be welcome to have one of my caliper if you lived close by.

yeah, fiat, scrapper, local fixing place...all should have them. Possibly some around the car that are less critical and can swap? ARB mounts etc?


Worst comes to worst and you have to travel, find a tight fitting tube, a g-clamp and take it VERY easy!!!

well i've found some scrappys that are open today so i should be able to get them sorted today. i think i'll get 2 tho, just incase

its the one that holds the caliper to the suspension leg.

Bargin 4 bolts from the scrappys for £1 as long as i don't snap anymore of them i should have 3 spare if anyone else needs any.
