Hello, not been here for a while. hope every ones ok!

My problem is my left hand side front tyre has balded through to the metal beading on the inside of the tyre. this has only happened in the past 4 or 5 months which is not normal!! my car was put on a 4 wheel alignment machine today and the tracking is purfect!!! There is one thing that i can see though, the tyre is not vertical there is quite a lean on it ( the top of the tyre/wheel being further under the wheel arch than the bottom). i have read in the haynes manuel about the cambers but there us no detail on this!! could this be the problem? Please help, i have two new tyres and realy need to use my car but Firsty it dangerous and secondly is illegal!!!!!!!!!

You had 4 wheel tracking and they couldn't tell you of any other problem? What kind of place is that? You obviously have a wheel alignment problem which could be wheel bearing, steering or suspension joints. Jack it up, any play at the wheel? It would need to be significant to get that kind of wear.

Has the front suffered collision with something solid?

beg your pardon when i said 4 wheel alignment i ment it was just purely the tracking. sorry that all came out a bit quick.

I was forced into a kerb because some prick was on my side of the road going round a blind bend. but would that have put the whele at this silly horizontal angle, surly the bottom would be pushed in further?

if the tracking machine was any good it should of told the bloke the wheels camber.

isnt angle something to do with the ball joints,

i`d remove wheel and have a good dig mate

thats it ive had enough!!!!!!
i cant find my driver disk for my camera so i cant load up my pics, sorry.

thanks for your help, i will hav a look tomoz night and see if there is anything glaringly obvious!!!

thanks again

Just plug it in, it wont blow up. Look for your removable drive and copy it off there

Have you smacked the wheel into anything solid or had any work done on that corner recently?

has the car been lowered and if so how much.
are the wheels standard or aftermarket and is there signs of the same on the opposite side.
have they checked just the tracking or did it also check the king pin inclination.

sorry for the delay.

Right now the wheels i have are 17" BK 299, the car has not been lowered and there has been no work done on that corner. As i said above i did hit a kerb a while back which would be the coresponding side to where the tyre wear is. the right hand side has worn but knowwhere near as much. I was informed that hard cornering could inflict this sort of damage, is this correct? my main concern is the lean in the left hand wheel, the garage only tracked the car and gave me no info on cambers or any other alignment.

found driver disk for camera so will load pics up in a second.

Cornering would normally wear the outside of the tyre.

If you've smacked a kerb with that wheel you've most likely bent the suspension.

i agree if that is the side that hit the kerb then something is most likely bent.
look down the side and front of the car at the trim height , bump stripes to check they are level. jack the car up and look for creasing in the wishbone and movement on the top of the strut, esp shiny bits, and compare with the other side . this should highlight physical probs. if you have owned the car for a while and it only done it with this set of tyres then the kerb bent something.
