What is the purpose of the two blank spot "holes" in the black area on top of the windscreen?:confused:

Without quite knowing what the 'black holes' are, my guess would be for positioning of toll road transponder units.
A lot of windscreens, especially European manufactured vehicles, have heating elements built into the windscreen glass and therefore transmitters/receivers can't pick up signals from overhead road toll transponders.
I have a Range Rover and the transponder has to be situated on a particular part of the windscreen so that it can transmit its signal. My Fiat Ducato has to have the transponder in a certain spot for it to operate effectivley as well.
Perhaps that is what you are referring to.
If not, maybe somebody else knows what it's about.

Oops...I have just seen the photo and yes they are for the auto headlights and wipers.

Thanks for reply!

Yeah thats a bit strange, because my van have neither auto-headlights nor auto-wipers. I got the van new from Fiat dealer, but maybe the windscreen got replaced before delivery due to transport damage or something like that, and then they replaced it with a auto-headlight/auto-wipers type.

Hi Keij. Have a look at the headlight stalk and you may have a setting for 'AUTO' printed on the knob. I think you will need to pull the stalk downwards to set the auto function.
On the indicator stalk you will probably have a similar arrangement whereby you can set it up to automatically activate when water is on the screen and if you have this function, you can also adjust the sensitivity to rain.
You will find the info in your manual, if you have one, but you will have to search it out. The manuals for these things are a bit like the vehicle design in that a committee sets out to make finding anything or carrying out repairs as difficult as possible.
Am I a cynic? Hell no!
