I'm trying to improve the sound in the car! Easiest way I got from feedback was to upgrade the HU which I did, but I've had to now go back to the stock HU :(

Anyway, seems the only other options I have is to either add a sub (an active underseat one) or upgrade the speakers. Both will cost me around £200 which is how far my budget will stretch!

SO what is the better option? Splicing a sub into the rear speaker line or replacing all 6 speakers and no sub.

Thanks

No need to replace all 6 speakers.

You sit in the front of your car, replacing the fronts would help massively.

Search Hertz ESK 165 - at around £120 those will certainly help. However, to get the most out of them you will have to add an amplifier, though they sound great powered by the head unit alone.

Also, it's up to you if you want a sub aswell. No speakers can replicate a sub properly. Some people set their bass settings really high on door speakers to try and get the same bass from a sub, I seriously advise against this.

If you want overall better sounding music, upgrade the door speakers. If you want more bass, add a sub. Though for that price, I'm guessing you were looking at subs with a built in amp?

Thanks guys! thinking now that a sub is the way to go!
It looks like there is no point getting good speakers if I'm sticking with the stock HU since it wouldn't make best use of it. And I don't want to get a separate amp...
I don't need particularly punchy bass and as I don't really want to loose any trunk space, I'm looking at an active sub especially the ones that fits under the seat!
