Update on Smee's dash...

what a nightmare!!! lol, deffo worth it tho.
I've test fitted it and all is sound. I'm now spraying it.
Smee has done all the wiring etc and all is ok.
We took the original dash off and then cut away the 2 supports and then cut away the vents behind, leaving just enough space to fit headunit.

just for clarification, is the black with white stipe wire on liliputs the positive/power and flat black the negative?

Yep, the white strip is the positive...

Don't panic anyway as the lilliput has a protection if wired the wrong way...

well, finishing it off turned out to be a right nightmare and now the bloody relay packed up for the inverter, but other than that she is in and working.

gonna get a 70A relay when I get back to work for him.

as you can maybe see from the pics, me and lee made a "good" job of completely fecking up the paint on the dash but oh well, you live and learn... we blame the primer

ta for that dan. shame about the paint job.

the dash was easy to cut up and the vent structure didnt need blocking when u turn the vent to the window it covers the vent for u.

screen need to be set back further but was wanting to finsish as its getting dark.

not sure why it not working. the screen powering up but the inverter isnt. i get a tick from the relay when power comes on but thats it. was only a 40A relay so maybe its just over powered and fried i dunno.

fiat dash is a ****** touch screen easy to use not tested sound yet so fingers crossed

I expect it was like that from new, there was an option when you bought it.

Much nicer than the stupid bevel i have got in mine, which you can put nothing in as it flies out and hits the window...lol

I have one in my bedroom, i may staple a thin plastic layer over it and glue black leather over it to over up the plastic and staples.

its a mk2 so comes with a pasenger air bag.

I think the passengers airbag was an option on all models, it doesn't come as standard, even on mk2's.

PC is in boot, incorporated into the bootbuild but hidden behind a covered panel.

Looks really REALLY good... seriously impressed..

Just a quick question about the prep and paint, so we can all have a better idea if it will happen to us, or if its just you...

was the plastic clean, ie no greasy finger marks etc?

Was it rubed down with wet 'n' dry?

Did you use plastic or plastic filler primer?

Was the primer completely dry befor you painted it?

How many coats did you give it?

Has it been laquared???

If you could answer these questions, I might feel more confident in trying the same...
