My 2011 Dobby has an unusual problem with the central locking. It started a few weeks ago. The key will only reliably lock & unlock the doors remotely when I am 25-150 feet away from the car. If I am any closer than about 25 feet (say two car lengths) it won't unlock or lock when I press the button, so I have to use the key in the lock or move further away.

I have twice had the battery changed in the key and it made no difference.

Anyone got any ideas ?

I finally got to the bottom of this on my 2011 Doblo. It was a battery voltage problem in the key fob. It would appear that my Doblo is incredibly sensitive to even the smallest voltage drop in the 3volt CR2032 battery in the key.

Since posting the original thread I had changed the battery a few more times with no success with the locking continually failing to work when the key fob is pressed close to the car. :bang:

Eventually I bought a Duracell CR3032 and it has completely fixed the problem.

The reason I believe is that the Duracell on my voltmeter puts out 3.34v whereas the other half dozen new CR2032 batteries in my stash (from various makers) all put out between 3.26 and 3.3v.

I had a long (and boring) :life: session today testing all of them in the key and every one was unreliable at triggering the central locking close to the car, whereas the Duracell triggers it every time.

It seems strange that such a tiny voltage difference would make such a big difference to the reliability of the locking mechanism. I am posting this up in case anyone else finds themselves with similar problems in the future. (y)

My modern punto was behaving oddly over xmas..similar to this..its five years old in march.. could need battrries.

Reason Ive searched and found this thread:

A member is having issues with a rear door locking...I was trying to find info for joeysmk1 on the actual locks and mechanism..
Like..does the key turn in the rear lock..
I think it must do or its pointless being there
