Can anyone fill me in on Internet Telephone, such as skype.

Basically my parents will be in Portugal a lot from now on so I believe you can ring them for 1.5p ish a min using skype as an example.

I assume I get credit then ring their mobile use microphone and speakers or headset and speak to them over the net?

There is a internet cafe where they are and use a internet phone but its connected to a normal analog phone but it cost a few pence a minute to ring home.

Also my mom has reliatives in Canada so would be good if she can speak to them.

You might want to try out Telestunt - 1p per minute to most European landlines.

Easee mate, not too sure about pricing. I have just brought a skype phone!! Not as robust as expected but you plug it into your comp via USB and also plug it into your landline.

So you can use it as a skype phone... which you can call other people on skype for free (as long as they are online). And also you can plug it into your landline (home phone).

I do believe you can use your skype to call land lines...just not sure about cost!!

If your parents get a computer/laptop with a skype phone, you guys can talk for hours for free. Obviously they will need to be online.
