Just been doing a trial go with the power wire.

The box at the top is the PSU. The big boxes are the amps, top one rated 1.2kW total and the bottom one 0.6kW (RMS) but they are actually identical apart from the crossovers.

why do you need a seperate power supply? Is it to change the voltage or just to stabalise teh output?

Cos the amps do not take 12v.

The amps themselves have no PSU in them.

Nah, its only fused at 80A. As the PSU is external it can be BIG and is alot more efficient than a normal amp.

Aren't you worried about your lights dimming?...or wont that happen with your set up?

I only ask, as at the moment i only have 1 amp + 1 sub (Apline V12 bridged at 320wrms into a infinity perfect 12" sub), and my lights dim if i turn the volume to half way...even at half way its not that loud, and if i turn it up to about 3/4 i dont get any distortion but my radio cuts out... (doesnt turn off, just the sound stops, usually when the bass kicks in)

My volume goes from 0-30, and even at 8-12 if i turn my indicators on my lights and milometer lcd dim with the flashing...

I was going to have a look at checking/beefing up the earth points on my H-unit, amp, battery etc... on the weekend, do you think this will cure it?

I've got a Varta 63Ah battery to go in and I'm also going to upgrade all the engine bay wiring as its a bit crap really.

I'm not worried about lights dimming

No speakers will be run from the HU.

I'll try and remember to take pictures. I was going to photo the wiring before I put the centre console back but it was getting dark and I was in a hurry.
