Introduction
Well, as some of you will remember i had a massive thread on rebuilding my old Uno Turbo.
Here's a couple of pictures of it to remind you all!
Looked good, was used daily
until i discovered how using it daily and through all weathers killed it and rotted it to death! This was 2005!!
So i cut up the old shell and started my new thread!
After mucho building i ended up with a 90% completed project which i used on the road for all of about 300 miles! Still miss the car now tho! This was now 2007!!
Anyway, i broke the car for parts as there were things i wish id done differently during the build, and things i wasnt happy with.
While i was taking the Uno Turbo to bits i had missed driving an Uno and bought this in October 2008!
a 2 old lady owner from new, 46k miles on the clock 1.0! Complete with original bill of sale and loads of history.
100% rust free, check those doors out! MINTERS!
LOVE rust free!
Anyway, the plan was then to make my 1.0 uno into a Uno Turbo replica and knock about in it for cheap motoring and drop a UT lump in it eventually, bit like a rolling usable project!
So the next few pics are over time as i started the mods!
A full mk2 Turbo interior was fitted, including clocks which i spent AGES winding back to the exact mileage of the 1.0 clocks to keep it all with the proper mileage!
I refurbished a spare set of Jamex suspension and cleaned up and painted my arches up
Then fitted some spare alloys i had, note its now looking like a full Turbo replica!
I then got a bit OCD and cleaned the whole floor pan, taking everything off, painting it up, re undersealing where needed etc
I then decided to use the coilovers off my Uno i was breaking and slam the white uno and fit some standard uno turbo alloys
i got my spare rear beam blasted and powder coated, fitted new UT rear calipers and some discs so the 1.0 was now running a full Uno Turbo Ream beam with Powerflex bushes
fitted
then i fitted my Compomotive MO's off the old uno turbo
along weith the Brembo 4 pots
a perfect Uno Turbo Replica, powered by a 1.0 LOL!!!
by now the old uno shell had gone to a new home to be rebuilt! So the 1.0 sat in its old place
Ive since moved into my new house and decided the time was right and had a great chance to do the engine swap! Its not the easiest of swaps as u need custom mounts and bits an bobs, but ive gone for the famous Fiat/Lancia 2.0 8v Twincam engine!
get an old Twincam engine, mines from a croma turbo
after many hours, cleaning, stripping, rebuilding, painting, sourcing parts its now looking like this!
NOTE: the turbo in the pics will be fitted one day, its a Garrett GT3040r, but for now to get it up and running i shall be using a Garrett T34 Turbo.
Right, we're now nearly up to date, as the next few pics are over the last month.
Rebuilt my spare subframe, fitted a Uno Turbo Rack, along with new bottom arms, new Powerfelx bushes and a mega mega Rare Eibach Uprated anti roll bar. I only know of 2 of these in the UK!
1.0 engine out.....bye!
my mate wayne stitch welding my engine bay
out comes the battery tray....love the grinder
took ages to prep and prime and spray up!
LOADS of waxoyl!
So, thats where we're at now!
Hoping the engine will be in fairly soon and then i can crack on finishing the rest of the car!
Need to buy some wheels too for it as ive sold ALL my alloys, including my Compomotive MO's!
Compomotive TH2's here we come
Dunc
