General uno turbo lump in Seicento

i personally wouldnt do it sweetie, but that mainly cuz i dont like sei's or cinq's. i had my old ut running at around 150bhp and it was awesome! buy an uno and stick 45 badges on the back if you wanna go undercover (y)

k-series are still ****e, rover shoulda stuck with the hondas. d16 in the 216 is ace :slayer:

back on topic, dont do it, unless ur minted. and if ur minted, just buy an rx7 (y)

Why would she want a *****, she has tits?!

Pre-op transexual perhaps? ;)

Uno Turbo lump into Seicento - Waste of time. 'Centos are smaller and lighter than a Uno and were never designed to take the heavier UT lump. The Uno WAS designed to take the engine, though as standard a UT didn't have the best handling by a long way.

17 year old with a modified turbocharged tiny hatchback = death trap. Doesn't matter how good a driver they are/ think they are, a 17 year old will not have the on the road experience to drive such a car. Check out the national acccident statistics to see that 17 - 24 year olds are at such high risk of accidents.

If you had a 17 year old daughter (or transsexual :p ) would you let them loose in a car like that? I wouldn't let a 17 year old in a standard UT let alone a modified 'Cento with a UT engine in it that it was never designed to take.

Also the fact that said 17 year old wants to 'race' and embarrass other mates suggests that these are all the wrong reasons for getting a car like that. Learn to drive in a car that won't bite back first, gain experience and then move up the ladder.

And if you REALLY want to embarrass your car owning mates without spending a small mortgage on building and insuring a car? Pass your motorcycle test and buy a 600cc sports bike that will p1ss all over most cars on the road over the standing 1/4 mile. You'll still find it almost impossible to insure though...

would love to see a UT race aarons old high boost cinq.. ah well

back on topic, we agreed! :p

Chris Bushboy in a mk1 Uno turbo raced Alex GhostWKD in a Cinq Van Aaken high boost turbo at a proper race track (Santa Pod?) not long ago. The Uno won, but it was fairly close.

The Uno had 1301cc, the Cinq had 1108cc. Now would a Cinq VA turbo with a 1242 turn the tables? :chin:

only reason why it was close was because bushboy gave the cinq a head start and still beat it.

sorry cinq/sei owners you cant beat a fiat built turbo i.e the uno turbo with some bolt on kit.

okay lets just calm down.
your comparing different classes.
feel good to beat an spi 110cc with a 1300 mpi turbo from factory set up?

shutup! how can a 1242 possibly be quicker than a 1301 turbo or 1372 turbo? as for handling, UT engine aint that heavy, christ, the battery's half the weight of the overall front weight on a UT and you'd have to relocate that to the back anyways. more weight distribution = better handling. those little sei's and cinqs handle like utter crap unless decked anyhow, so wouldnt ruin anything i test drove one before i bought my mini and OMG, felt seasick!

the engine doesnt have ot be relocated to the back as its been done.
the person who says it ruins the handling owned a 1.4T cinq so its hands on experience.
the mini comparison doesnt work for various reasons

cinq/sei's handle crap?talk sense in standard guise they handle fairly well for city cars pushing low power.

you want to turn this into a uno T fanboy rant then take it somewhere else, its not what the thread is about is it?

this is yet another thread about pipedreams that will never reach fruition.

Cinqs/sei should be left with the 1.1's or the 1.2 punto lumps in them..........................but then you will always find someone who wants to put that something different in theirs

If he wants to do it, let him do it.

It may handle **** in the long run but as long as the smile on his face is bigger than the windscreen then let it.

A VA-HB Cinq/sei wouldnt get far ahead of a UT for long! lol

Trust me, if many saxo VTS, 106 GTI's, etc, etc never did with my old UT (With a dead turbo mind), then a cinq/sei wont!

But a cinq/sei is a good base for a mad little car, speaking of witch, i have one for sale :) lol

I cant be bothered to read all the thread/links posts RE this topic, its seems pointless.

I think all fiat engines are well designed and suit their purpose but under no circumstances can a NA 1242 be compared to the 1301 t engine.

I dont give a rats ass if by throwing hundreds and hundreds at a 1242cc you can get it to within throwing distance of a standard 1301, why even waste your life comparing them!?

Either compare two standard example, or for the more adventorous, compare two modified examples that have seen a grand spent on them, and see where you are left!

SNAP!! lol, cant be bothered either.

all i know is my UT is faster than all ur UTs and sei/cinqs and if it isnt, i'll just chuck a few more ££££s at it till it is :p

lol, only joking, i love cars like alex's turbo cinqy, that is mint! and it sounds lush, 10000x nicer than any UT and i can assure that. such a lovely smooth turbo gurgle, can really hear it! and its not too shabby down the strip either :D

Dunc

true, pointless arguement, but anyways...

custard, i never said the engine had to go in the back, i said the battery (i think - as in, SAME AS A MINI - HAS THE BATTERY IN THE BOOT AND IM PUTTING A UT LUMP IN A MINI, small engine bay area, in fact, i dont have an engine "bay" per say...(y) anyways, wasnt strictly comparing to a mini, this is a fiat site, not allowed to talk about other car makes :D

SO NAAAAAA :p

So it looks like this thread has pretty much come to an end with a resounding 'NO' to the original question of whether to put an Uno Turbo engine in a Seicento.

From another perspective and to be quite honest little_cruiser, as you're a new driver and are planning to get your first car which you will inevitably get your experience/near misses/scares with, try and get as newer car as you can with as many airbags/seatbelt pretensioners/door beams etc as possible because accidents do happen. If you were my sister/daughter/girlfriend I wouldn't feel too secure in the fact that you'd be cutting your driving teeth on flimsy old Italian machinery that folds in accidents with modern cars. I should know as I obliterated an Uno Turbo a few years ago in the centre of Turin and it was very scary and too close for comfort. The BMW that I collided with however offered me a lift home.

Take care and good luck......................M.

Oh dear! how embarressing is this thread! talk about battle lines drawn!! IMO it should have been locked ages ago, its gone well off topic

from what ive read in various places, the UnoT engine in a Cento is a bad idea due to handleing issues (due to the weight of UT lump) and also the strenthening and widening work to get the thing in there in the first place (due to the size of the bay)

It will need inner wing and bulkhead mods, driveshafts, fuel pump, ecu, wiring, and the cooling issue resolved

However it can be done, but will need research, a wad of cash (on going supply). You would have to be prepared to have your car off the road for some time in order for the project to be completed, and also put up with the inevitale teething problems.

Who cares if UTs or modded Centos are faster. Not me, I love my Seicento's conversion as its tailor made to me :) It gives me alot of pleasure, and is that little bit different.

I have respect for both models of car, their differing performance figures, various modifiying challanges and handleing.

Each model car is different and should be respected as such
