General uno turbo lump in Seicento

It can be done

But the cost will be high and the time spent doing it will be high

You need skill and patenice to pull it off mate

You could do it as a dedicated project car but just get a ****ter as a 1st car....................this coming from someone who 1st car was a MK2 Uno turbo :) lol

id go for it! if we can squeeze a ut lump in a (real) mini engine bay then im sure it'l fit in a cinqo wouldnt it (batterys on minis are in the boot mind, so saves space)?? (y)

Whacking a bigger engine into a mini would be easier than cinq/sei. As posted many times already, doable but expensive and time consuming. I also don't like the idea of someone who's not got loads of driving experience being behind the wheel of such a beast. Would be a waste of the car and your life

ARC why would a uno turbo lump destroy the handling of a cinq/sei? not that they handle well in the first place?

how can you back this up? or you just going by in theory?

and sorry but how can a tuned 1242 be quicker overall? 1242 cinqs are weak mate, there not anywhere near on the same level as a uno turbo. my uno was quicker than chris's VTS and we both know what happened when you raced his saxo.

the UT engine is too heavy.

speaking to someone who has a Sei with a 1.4 UT engine in it, he said it's fine in a straight line but handles awful. Said he wouldn't do it again, just tune a 1242 instead.

on a track, a midly tuned 1242 was catching a cosworth powered cinq. no chance on the straights, but it was rubbish at cornering.

was hardly a proper race.. i beat him off the line though.. :p

also, depends on what level of tuning you mean. for what it'd cost to put an uno engine into a cinq you could build a high boost 1242, which would be lighter and quicker.

or, you could fit a FIRE derived 1368 and tune that.

i'm not attacking uno engines here, but they're not suited to cinqs or seis.

845kg is still more than the circa 700kg a cinq weighs.

shutup! how can a 1242 possibly be quicker than a 1301 turbo or 1372 turbo? as for handling, UT engine aint that heavy, christ, the battery's half the weight of the overall front weight on a UT :D and you'd have to relocate that to the back anyways. more weight distribution = better handling. those little sei's and cinqs handle like utter crap unless decked anyhow, so wouldnt ruin anything (y) i test drove one before i bought my mini and OMG, felt seasick!

Also blu73

do you actually know this person? how do you know they wont be able to handle the power of a UT lump if you dont know them and have seen them drive? also to that end, how do you expect people to get better at driving and improve their skills if they only drive cr4ppy underpowered cars that theyve driven and got used to?
Of course if you DO know this person and they REALLY cant drive for ****, then furry chuff (y)

Out of interest what does a mk1 uno 45 weigh?

Tom

haynes manual says 700kg, which would be the same as a cinq, so wouldnt a cinq with a uno turbo engine weigh about the same as a uno turbo?

well at least the majority can agree that putting an uno turbo engine in a cinq is pointless and a waste of time, costing more money than its worth as the best place for a uno turbo engine is in a Uno.

the UT engine is heavier than a 1242, it's an older design.. a quick look shows the stock UT engine at 105bhp - you can get that from an 1108cc FIRE N/A.

The UT engine might well suit an UT, but not a cento. A guy who built and drove a UT engined Sei said it destroyed the handling.

Re being slammed? Yeah, i know - my cinq scrapes the floor!

re the K series, if you modifiy the stat and fit the land rover gasket kit then its not a problem. its a better engine than the 1242 or the UT's engine!!

ARC you forget the mk1 uno runs 7psi as standard and can be turned up to 14 and will hold 12 psi, along with a K&N filter and stainless steel exhaust it turns the uno into a beast, thats all mine had and it was faster than chris's VTS which was r/r at 150bhp.

you may be able to get 105bhp from a 1.1 N/A but it'll be on the limit and have little torque, and would still get beat by a standard mk1 uno turbo easily
