Hi i am thinking of droping a uno 1.4 turbo engine into my punto but need a couple of questions answering. Dose the uno system with its 2 ecu`s have a code system immobliser? and how hard s it to get parts such as dizzy caps coils alternator/warter pump belts cam belts ect ect Any infomation would be a great help and any exta info too

i thought the uno turbo was a 1.3 and the punto gt a 1.4 ?

easy to just get a punto gt but their prices are steep for what they are albeit rare now.
bet you dont want easy jt cheap and insured as a 1.2 lol

i had an m reg punto gt yonks ago
great wee car at the time tuned with just a bleed valve and very light
chassis was terrible
dont see many now as they have spun off the road like me or the rot has set in

The later UNO Turbos had the 1.4 Engine which was developed
further on in the PUNTO. The UNO system does´nt have a code system immobiliser.
It has an ECU and an ignition Module on top of the airflow meter.
I see no sense in putting an older system in a newer car.
Putting a PUNTO 1.4 Turbo engine in your car will be a lot easier.

Thanks for the info :) if I put the gt engine in I need a lot more like full wireing loom with ecu code box all keys and locks speedo binical then the problem with airbag system and abs system, So the uno engine seems to me to be the way to go just got to splice the loom into existing punto one for the speedo rev counter temp gauge and the ignition block

An uno turbo is not an ordinary uno with a fast engine.
It has better suspension, anti-roll and swaybars, improved faster steering rack, abs brakes etc.

I would always make sure my project car is equal or better that the donor in all these regards before the transplant for safety reasons.

I agree with hyperspace about upgrading the rest of the car first apart from the abs brakes, uno turbo antiskid editions are rare and most abs systems were actually removed by most owners. Plus punto master cylinders and servos are much better than uno's there are guides for fitting punto units to uno's.
