Technical Uno engine washed now wont start

Hi guys. So I washed my Uno Mia engine because of an oil leak and now it wont start. I have dried and checked everything. EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! Even the distributor inside. Plus it is really hot outside.

My question is when the electical components are wet can they short and blow? Like the module/ECU or coil? I by chance have an xtra coil but it too doesnt seem to throw spark and it is still new. Has the module blown?? I dont have an immobiliser. I have literaĺly check everything.
What should I check?

leave the bonnet open,
it'll dry out eventually

water and electrics never mix well - covering the major stuff in plastic bags is always advised

When you say "inside the distributor" how far inside have you dried? Water can make its way all the way inside, under the cover plate you see when you open it up..

Are you getting a spark at the ends of all the plug leads?

As varesecrazy says, it`ll dry out eventually, might be an idea to leave it with the dizzy cap off & the bonnet open.

Also, water tends to gather round the plugs on the FIRE engine during jetwashing, best way to remove it is compressed air & tissue paper.

a73uk, no, no spark. I disasembled the distributor. It was wet. But dry and clean now. Could something have shorted in there??

Ive tried 3 dist caps, 3 coil leads, 2 coils, 3 modules (though I think only one works...), basic current testing on fdistributor wires (there is current), dried plug leads and dried any pooled water. Cranks eagerly but no fire.

But how can the coil be the problem especially the new one?? I think it is the module/ECU?

Well, it looks like you`ve covered all bases, if you`ve got current getting to the dizzy, but no spark, it would point to either the pick-up (inside the distributor) or the module (mounted on the side of the dizzy).

Might be worth taking the dizzy off completely & warm it to evaporate any hidden water.

Is this a carb or injected Uno?

I removed the dist completely, took it apart, clean and dried. I suspect the pick up too. That means a new distributor!!! ?

Solved: pickup coil wires were bare and water caused short. Taped up. ?
