Im Looking to do a slight style "improvement" so the uno isnt much of an eye sore. just wondering if you can get body kits for them still and what is the maximum wheel and tire size (Profile, etc) I can put onto my UNO and also whats the stud pattern for them.
My cars a 89 70SL Uno

Cheers

If only it looked like this!, Lol

If you think uno's are eye sores why buy one you f*cking idiot,.
unonumero do you want to sell your grill :D cant beat the white uno's you considered turbo conversion?

eyesore? :shakehead: oh dear total, perhaps you should have bought a mini clubman since you are so concerned with image, however that seems unlikely as you hanker after a bodykit so bad, that if it were an animal, it would be put down at birth.

you're pretty new here total, and whilst i accept there are differing points of view regarding our cars, yours is very likely to get you no elp whatsoever from anyone here, esp those who know these cars very well.

take it on board, sort yourself out, and smarten up.

you dont need daft bodykits to smarten up your uno, IMO they dont suit the uno well ( except turbo kits, horman kits dont look to bad) and you will probly be more of a laughing stock with silly stuck on parts...

Even a standard uno looks cool! but if mods are a must, small subtle changes are what your looking for

as for wheels...spoked or standard wheels (from an italian car) look the nuts on an uno, unless your wanting a fresh euro example where deepdish alloys suit it the most. in either case, any bigger than 15's, you may struggle to fit them ( depending on the ride height of your car ).

my 3 door R.I.P
1.JPG
Bit dirty but nothing wrong ( except the no. plate). lowered 30mm on standard 14in seicento sporting alloys and tyres ( had to use extended bolts on the rear wheels, as the original bolts only went in about 3 threads )

My 5 door ( Thanks 1.4 ies )
DSC00220.JPG

DSC00217.JPG
lowered 60mm on 15in tsw alloys (195/45/r15). turbo kit, dials etc. full fiat coupe leather interior.
maybe a 5 door but still one of the coolest around.

If its daft jap style u want, have you thought about a corsa, saxo etc(y)

sorry to kind of hijack the thread but just showing my examples for inspiration, hope this helps.

Stop harrasing Me Lol! Stock UNOS are eyesores (Like the lunch box lada (Fiat 124's) until its painted high gloss black with r15 BBS LM rims (Which is going on my fiat) with the number plate V0DKA)
they look cool with some decent rims on (mine are stock fiat rims with hubcaps!!)
as for that picture IT IS RIDICULOUS Lol!
Its got supprisinly good preformance for a 1.3L I out dragged my mothers 2.0L PT Cruser in it!
heres my baby (My very 1st car, the one I learnt to drive in)

Louie Bee and Jai :nono:

Seems this thread is a bit on the harsh side

sumouno: I agree, that black thing is hideous, but I think it IS an Uno. It's probably from Brazil or Argentina where the Uno has the clamshell bonnet (folded-over at the edges like a Tipo). I presume that's what made you decide it's a Tipo ;)

Eklipze3k: top marks for finding and using the Trademe site (y)
It's like an NZ-only version of eBay, much better than eBay IMHO. As for the bodykit, might look a bit 80s?

TotalEclipse: welcome to the forum, if I haven't already said so
Another Kiwi! :woot:

I agree that currently your Uno looks like a blast from the 80s - not necessarily a bad thing, but if you want to modernise it, I suggest spraying bumpers, mirrors, and grille in body colour (has to be done properly - sand, prime and paint with top-quality materials, looks tacky if not). That costs very little and fixes the ageing plastic!

It actually looks in good condition from what's in the photo, so maybe you should put some effort into polishing up that paint so it shines. Is it metallic green or silver?

And do something about that orange LH indicator ;)

Then put on suitable alloys - 15" is a reasonable limit with 195/45 tyres (or maybe 185/55 tyres like my Punto has) - try to get wheels that are in sympathy with the lines of the Uno - i.e. flat surfaces, not too rounded. The bolt pattern is 4x98PCD (same for almost all FIAT/Lancia/Alfa Romeo/some Renault) which can be a real problem in NZ. Offset around 42mm.

There are currently some 14" Lancia Beta wheels on Trademe that would fit, but those are actually OLDER than the Uno, so I don't recommend them for what you're wanting. A better bet would be some wheels off an Alfa 33, though they're only 13" and may still be a bit old-skool for your tastes. How about late-model Alfa wheels - e.g. 147? - if the budget stretches. Try asking around the Italian car specialists in NZ (I won't put names here; that would be advertising). Look in the Yellow Pages.

Lower the suspension - 40mm makes the car look 'standard' and doesn't affect the ride much except to reduce the roll and generally make the steering more positive. Don't do this by cutting the springs though, otherwise they fall off the strut perches. Again, ask around the specialists.

Finally if you're good with bodywork you might consider flushing the bootlid (removing lines and recesses) - not my thing personally, but another mod that doesn't cost much and makes the Uno look more 'modern'.

Cheers,
-Alex

PS. Well done for not going off your head at some of the other responses...!

Clearly a chav, who buys a car that thinks its a "eyesore" just to go and but some cheap stupid boy racer rims on?

Without wishing to drag up the "eyesore" debate, beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Unos have an aesthetic charm because of their boxy styling - you either like them or not. But to change the look drastically is to change the very essence of what makes the Uno a charming little 80's Italian hatchback. The simple fact that most attempts at 'styling' changes on a Uno end up making them look worse/ rank/ chav etc. just shows how good the original design was in the first place.

If you must go for a bodykit, the only one that seemed to work quite well is the Hormann kit. Otherwise the standard Uno Turbo/ 70SX arches and sill covers are still the epitome of subtle, classy style. Even a bog standard Uno with no kit but slammed on retro looking alloys can look the dog's danglies.

Also bear in mind that the Uno is in the grey area between old banger and classic. As time goes by the more unmolested the model the more it will appeal, plus the more it will be worth. Clean and smooth is the way to go, and as UnoNumero suggests the Euro look is the most suitable for a Uno. Leave the Max Power bodykits to the Chavs ;)

NOt surprised as the PT Cruiser is PANTZ
Had the use of a couple of those as a Company PooL Car for a few months and thought they were totally rubbish!!

Even a bog standard Uno with no kit but slammed on retro looking alloys can look the dog's danglies. . . .
Well I wouldn't say mine was the DoGs Do Da's
BUT it is NoT an EyeSore . .
