Hello.
First computer thread...
At work we had a D-Link switch 1016D.
http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=337
It was connected to 1 modem, 12 workstations and 1 server. The server acted like a DHCP server (or something like that). If the server failed or went down, noone could get on the net.
Now I sold this switch to a guy who claims it doesn't work. It was sold as we needed a 24 port switch, so it was a straight pull-out.
He has connected two computers to the switch trying to play some game. The "power" led lights up but no connectivity led. He gets messages like "network cable unplugged" on both computers.
So I say this isn't a router, it's a switch. It might need some interpretion.
But I don't really know. What is a switch. Why doesn't it work??? He has no modem or router or hub etc. connected. Just this unmanaged switch.
Morten.
