So, i have this plastic case, and the "bottle" from the side is broken, a huge hole- you can see it in the picture.
At 2000rpm and after, a huge noise is coming from the engine, the turbo part, and i think this is the problem. The intercooler hoses are ok.

Do you know what's the name of that plastic piece? Or least the original code, to find it easily.

Thanks, and sorry for disturbing .

That's the air filter housing and the plastic bottle is the oil trap. Not sure on eper codes but Davren is your man for that.

and do you know with what it affects this broken oil trap the working of turbo?

well if this effects the turbo then i need to change mine. before my car pulled like a train but now up to 2000rpm there aint much then a huge burst of power comes and the turbo whisles loud then. ha ha. god knows what it is. still goes up to 120 no problem though ha ha ha

Not sure about the exact part number as it may differ in accordance to your VIN number, but Fiat are showing 55184947 as being the complete air filter housing for the M50 engine (115JTD).

Price is.. wait for it... 140E, and considering you're from Romania as well Autoitalia will sell that without the 24% VAT so expect around 200E.

Try to fix it in any way possible, as the vapor trap will bring a lot of dirty air into the turbo damaging it beyond repair. You can always solder on a piece of plastic or anything that you think may fit for that matter, to avoid any costly purchases.

The noise may come from the air going through the small holes at a very high speed causing a wind noise thing thingie. :) If that's what you think you hear, then you've got the right part.

What does it do:

It's primary design is as a vapour trap. Crankcase blowby vents down from the rocker cover and is directed straight past air entering the turbo so a good proportion will enter the engine as part of the combustion process. However, some (presumably heavier globules) will drop past the air stream and fall into the tube that feeds the vapour trap (not really sure what's inside it :chin:) and tend to accumulate there. I believe it also collects oil that drops out of the turbo although I'm not certain on this as not sure anyone has really witnessed what happens in a live engine.

The reverse happens when the engine is running at a good pace since the venturi effect across the mouth of the tube will cause oil vapour to be sucked into the turbo until all that remains is a sticky mess in the bottom of the box.

Aside from reduction pollution the other advantage is that the MAF is protected somewhat from oil contamination (the MAF being on the air-box side).

At least that's how I think it's supposed to work :)

My airbox was also broken. I couldn't find a used one, so I checked for a new one. I was shocked with the price of over 200 €!!!! Of course no way I'm giving that money for a plastic box. Then I found a used but ok air fiter box for Punto mk2 JTD, put new filter in it and instaled it. As for the pipe that goes on the "bottle" I actualy fitted a 0.5L bottle, and it all works fine!! Maybe it's not nice to see it,, but it does the job!
