I am having a huge complaint with FIAT at the moment after they apparently fixed my car and returned it to me with half the engine compartment still in pieces

Can a FIAT engineer please tell me what this part of the engine is specifically known as? It is an air intake of some sort but I need to know the proper name for my complaint.

Many thanks

When they are fitting it for you (I assume you are going to leave it as it is when you return to the garage) make sure that the two clips that should be deep in on each side (4 in total) of the unit and the two quarter turn screws near the front corners are still in place. They keep this unit clamped tightly to ventilation air inlet duct above it, where pollen filter meets up with it. If not tight dust and pollen will get into ventilation/aircon system. These clips and screws are really difficult to get at any Fiat/Citroen/Peugeot dealer parts department!

1) FIAT never done anything, it was a franchised garage

2) Its a pollen filter housing

3) Not exactly half the engine in pieces...slight exagiration

Believe it should be Fiat never "DID" anything, also "it's" and "exaggeration", sorry just being pedantic, btw I'm not English.

Update - FIAT bodged a fix on the unit - they drilled and fixed the unit back up using two nuts and bolts rather than any of the original bits - Not impressed!!!

Have spoken with the office of fair trading now and they agree that it is not acceptable and have even reported it to trading standards as they believe there is a safety issue about this job.

safety issue! I see this on a regular basis because the mechanic/owner does not try and stop the 4 half turn bolts from dropping. Worse your gonna get is a rattle!

A serious safety issues is supension/steering fault or worse still brake related NOT a pollen filter housing.....ask toyota;)

It's 'sloppy' work not neglectful in anyway.

Cop on T14086, why are you trying to defend the butchers who carried out this work? This members car has been left in a mess. I will bet that the four clips at the rear sides of the housing are missing and so the whole thing probably does not sit up tight to inlet duct. Could it now be sitting on and chaffing brake vacuum hoses or electrical wiring underneath?? Is there a possibility that CO2 could make its way into cabin if there was a problem with, say, leaks in exhaust system, as air is being drawn directly from engine compartment into air duct and not from outside through filter housing as was the original design function??
Also get your facts straight about bolts. Originally there were TWO bolts and not FOUR and they were QUARTER turn not HALF turn. Now this member has to go to the trouble of unbolting.
I would consider this type of work as negligence although probably not criminal negligence!!
As eluded to by digger58 earlier, I think you should start looking up the Oxford Dictionary for spellings and definitions before coming in with your snide comments in future.
'Anyway' at the end of your post,T14086, used properly in the context in which you meant to use it, should be TWO words: 'any way'.
Like digger58, I am not English either, but no apologies for my rant.
