General Ulysee or Galaxy?

M6 Fan,

Glad to hear about the choice of a Ulysse :). Any more details of what you actually got i.e. model, spec, engine, options?

Interesting to see which dealer you are using, and how good they are for aftersales support. I live locally as well [see your PM].

M6 Fan,

Firstly I'd like to know what CDs were given to you when you recieved the car - will be interesting to see what they're giving out now....

Secondly, please let us know your feelings on the quality of the built-in phone. Us old-timers have some sound quality issues with the microphone in the car (and people at the other end saying things like 'where are you calling from - the swimming pool?!'). I'd like to know if things are better on the new models (as it gives us hope that the problem can be solved with the older models).....

John ;)

Spec is

2.2 JTD Eleganza 6 speed, Lagoon Blue, tinted windows, leccy doors, load cover and super vis pack. Also wishing I had gone for the CD stacker as well.

Garage was Research in Nuneaton. They fixed the satnav today and threw in a full set of mats for the inconvenience caused. Nice touch with flowers for Mrs M on car pick up.

My other car is a Fiat Multipla so I have previous experience of Fiat dealers - Research have always been ok providing you don't belittle them and find out who the senior people are and try and befriend them - this is how I got the order through so quickly.

I'll come up with some other stuff in a few days when I've driven a few more miles.

CD received - only 1 which was the 2003/4 satnav cd.

Phone quality I am told is ok although I haven't heard it yet. I think that you will always struggle a bit with noise quality in a large tin box. My old car was a Galaxy with leather interior and a Nokia hands free kit - sound bounced around all over the place and the Fiat is better.

In my opinion, I think you have to accept the compromise of phoning whilst on the move against quality of sound.

Hi Rich,

Nice spec - I presume you didn't go for the Nav+ upgrade? Nice choice of engine, with the new 6 speed gearbox as well.

I use Motorvogue in Northampton, which is also an Alfa dealer - at the mo, no major problems with them - the full first service come this August will be the cruncher. They did mess up on the original order, but all put right in the end.

1 CD is right, now - car used to come with 2, but now upgrades are done directly through dealerships.

I find the phone is poor - I use a Nokia hands free kit in my Mondeo, and it is perfect; then again, less space to bounce around in.

Hi all
Great site.
Bought my ulysse 5 weeks ago , Ex fiat car with 2k miles. Great family car. Done 2k already and smiled all the way.
Found you due to a few teething troubles with climate control, tyre sensors, electric window etc. Dealer fixed these in two visits. 1 to diagnose and 1 to fit the ordered parts. Superb dealer attitude and workmanship.

Interested in the ford discussion.
Second car a 2 year old focus with 14k . Faults have included cambelt and pulleys, auto box, engine management, starter, alternator, power steering etc etc. Been at the dealer 20+ times, total 3 months. Worse of all a dire dealer/ manufacturer attitude.
Also vauxhall dealer did an accident repair. Six weeks, three resprays and two insurance engineers visits to repair.

All three dealers are only 500 metres apart.

2003 ulysse 2.0 petrol auto Prestigio Elec doors, tints, dvd,

Hi Shrek, welcome to the Forum :D

Glad to see you got a Prestigio - the car I wanted originally, but the 6 seats were not practicle, so ended up speccing up an Eleganza instead [V]

Glad to hear that all the teething problems sorted, which must give you confidence. It just shows you that it doesn't matter what the marque is, you can be let down by a bad dealer.

Also nice to hear that Fords are just as bad - lol - but I run a Mondeo [P-Reg, 131k on clock], which goes like a treat.

Anyway, welcome to the club, and look forward to more postings.

Connect+ was expensive [when I got it, £1100 included CD changer as well], but I decided not to buy electric doors and sunroofs.

I feel it was money well spent, however.

No M6 toll, lol - what sat nav version you on?

The version I have shows the toll road, but not driven up it since I got the update....

It's marked as 2004/2005 on the CD.
