Hi Guys

I just wanted to say if anyone in the UK has 2 private cars and the barc is coming up for renewal try admiral multicar insurance.

I managed to get the barc fully comp for about £270 (previous best was about £370 3rd party fire and theft!) and also got my other car (Toyota Aygo) cheaper too. Got both cars fully comp for about £450 all in, saving about £200 probably :D. They also mirror ncb from one car to the other and let you stagger the policies in the first year so there's no need to cancel the other car's existing policy.

End of advertisement!

I have just changed to admiral , and also spotted the multicar policy i have just renewed the missus in june the ins part, but will keep an eye on that for next year
You'll need to as when my multi car came up for it's renewal, the price had shot up. I'm now with More than and saved another £150 off Admirals best price, they seem to work on the low price for a year policy then hike the price and hope you don't notice.
As always spend a bit of time shopping around. Don't forget also to send back your new quote policy if your changing to confirm that you don't require an automatic new cover, otherwise it'll cost you as I found out I was paying for a car I no longer even owned.

If you want multicar, use Tradex. Up to 5 vehicles for £559, depending on value. I have the B, Grand Cherokee V8 and Marea Weekend with them, all unlimited miles and use for work...

Without putting too much of a downer on the thread I'd advise you to be careful with this. Only say this as my wife (CPS prosecutor) has recently had someone in who was being done for driving without insurance. They had phoned admiral to put their 2nd car on with them under the multicar scheme, been promised over phone that it was done, only to discover after insignificant prang that in fact Admiral hadn't done it and they were unfortunately uninsured. The court were entirely sympathetic to the outraged bloke but unfort didn't have any choice but to give him the conviction, along with 3 points :eek:

Perhaps this was just a one-off and perhaps you all have similar stories from other insurers too?

Main lesson= GET IT IN WRITING!!

Andy- just because you don't cancel the direct debit doesn't give them the right to steal money from you. Hope you got it all back?

My insurance i sup for renewal next month. I have been re-quoted £368 from current insurer. I think last year it was under £300 so not happy with that. Only have the B to insure as my daily drive. Hope i'm not being penalised for claim as it wasn't my fault and no claims are intact. Anyone recommend a good insurer to try?

NCB is a discount, it doesn't mean they won't up the premium because you have had an accident - even if it wasn't your fault.
