Hi

Could someone please tell me what the error code U1601 means on my 2002 punto. The engine warning light is on all the time. I cleared the error code but it has come back on.
The car is running fine.

Cheers

i think U1600 is the Imboliser No Signal Received
But U1601 is the Can Bus System - which can be hard to locate the fault for

have you tried the Fiat Ecu Scan
As i have a feeling that you will also have a u1600 code as well - but some General Readers Wont see some stored fault codes

I had the U1601 error, and was told can bus error as well.

To resolve it, I took all other car cars off my key ring, and also I had a keyless entry card for work on the bunch as well.

Since I took these off, I never had the U1601 come back.

Hi Is a Can Line
high transmission speed C-CAN network dynamic power control network is diagnosed via a specific K line

The following are controlled directly via the individual K diagnostic lines:

engine management unit
ABS control unit;
electric steering control unit

what ecu you have ?

Hi it’s a magneti marelli
Curly, If you clear the codes and restart the engine are any of these U1601 and U1600 codes coming back immediately?

On my car if I turn on the ignition with an old key without a transponder chip I get code U1600 which my Autel reader says is MiniKrypt error. However if I put my good key against the old key and turn the ignition on with the old key the immobiliser light goes out and then If I put my good key on the passenger seat the car starts normally.

On some threads on this forum some people are saying U1601 is an immobiliser fault code and some people are saying it is a CAN fault code.

On your own car you can get the immobiliser light to stay on to get a fault code by wrapping the plastic part of the key in several layers of aluminium baking tray foil.
