hi guys
i just got a really nice set of original lancia alloy wheels
they are 5.5x14
i`m gonig to change my current tyres very soon
i know that the right size for the 5.5-14`s is 185/60
but what about 195/60
i just wanna know if there would be a problem fitting the 195
my car have standard suspension - no lowering and i just wanna
make sure that with the 195`s there will be no rubbing in wheel arches
or inside parts of the arches

thanx all

i had the same wheels fitted to a lancia dedra then on a fiat tempra with 195/60 14 tyres and didnt have a problem suppose the tipo would be ok unless the guys know any different(y)

Well you are on the limit of wheel width [narrow]to fit those tyres. You really need 6 or 6.5x 14 wheels to fit the tyres correctly. The narrower wheel will give poorer handling [sidewalls] and i bet tend to leak more too. They are nice wheels though, and a similar pattern was fitted to later Tipo's
Why not try, 185x55x14 tyres instead. Wont make much difference to speedo, yet will grip better then the 195x60x14.

What was the original tyre size?
My 1.4 i.e. had 165-70/13 tyres, which means that normally I have to put 185-55/14 tyres to keep the same diameter.
However, I have recently bought 4 14" alloy rims originally fitted on a 2.0 Tipo and I' m going to put 185-60/14 Michelin Pilot Exalto II tyres on them.

I have the same wheels from Lancia Dedra with Pirelli P400 Aquamile tyres 175/65 R14 .

Galilio_Mad - 185/60R14 is what you need on 14" wheels. You can get more tyre for your money than any other size, and they're as wide as you can afford to fit to a 5.5" rim. 195/60 would be both too wide for the rim and would also make your speedo more inaccurate.

While you're getting tyres fitted - throw a 175/65R14 on a steel rim and swap if for that bicycle wheel they call a spare!

If you had 15" wheels I'd reccomend 195/50R15 or 185/55R15.

I'm lowered 35mm and have 195/50/R15s @ 7 inches and there is no rubbing at all, even when cornering like a mad man and when the car if fully laden with passengers or luggage.

There is still room in the wheel arches especially the rear  so you should be able to get away with it.

so
it`s 185/60 R14
thanx guy`s you`ve been a great help to me
thanx very much

I can' t understand which Tipo's have 165-70/13 tyres and which one's have 165-70/14 tyres. Mine had 165-70/13 when i bougth it (1.4 i.e. 1992 model) and now it has 175-65/13 tyres fitted on the same rims. Therefore in case I want to put 14" rims, normally I have to put 185-55/14 tyres. However that dimension is much more expensive than 185-60/14 and with much fewer choices.

You are quite correct, 165/70 x 13's were standard for the early petrol cars, the Mk2 versions went up to 14" rims but still with skinny 165/65 tyres. Bigger engined cars (diesels, 2 litres etc) had wider, slightly taller tyres (175/65 x 14, 185/60 x 14, 185/55 x 15). You have currently done the best you can on 13" rims with wider, lower profile 175/65 x 13s. The ideal 14" size for these cars would be 175/60 or 185/55, as fitted to the earlier sporting Puntos, but as you say they are rarer and more expensive. There is no problem with 185/60 x 14s, they are cheaper but don't look as low profile on the car. Pointless going much wider than 185 on a Tipo, they suit the car very well.

Thank you for the information!
I don' t really care whether the tyres will seem or not low profile on my car, and as a result I' m going to wear 185-60/14 tyres on my "new" 14" alloy rims. I have been told that they are the rims that the factory put on 2.0 Tipo' s, so I beleive they will seem just fine on my car.
Putting 60 and not 55 tyres is not a matter of cost, but a matter of choices. I want to put Michelin Pilot Exalto II which I can find only in 185-60/14.

A set of 2.0 8v alloys? They're quite rare!

edit: Oh yes.. The delta wheels. Well they're nice wheels too! I'm not certain but you may need to change the locating bolts for regular bolts as there is no space for the pin in the back of these alloys. I can't remember.

185-60R14 are a great size and don't look too high profile - too thin a tyre will make the handling poor on bumpy roads.

these are factory wheels!!! but for a lancia delta/prisma/thema/dedra ect not a tipo 2.0
Are these 2.0 TIPO's original wheels???

They were manufactured by "PANTHER" and they are 6*14" with 36 offset.

the wheels do fit ok as the dedra uses the same running gear as the tempra as long as you use alloy wheel studs as the steel wheel ones are shorter .found out all this as i had 4 dedras over ten years seats interior bits and pieces all fit oh if you fancy a dedra dont spares are a nightmare unless the bit you want is the same as the tempra/tipo ,had to pay £45 for a door handle a few years back .had 2 tempras both were fitted with the dedras wheels ,sold 10 wheels when we got the ulysse they are on a little red teeeepot last time i saw them(y)

hi guy`s
thanx all for the advice
i couldn`t find any 185/60-14

they are really good and fits the car
they don`t look lo-profile but i like them

thanx all again
