Tyre suggestions (again)

On checking my tyres it appears I need all four replacing (oops). Being extremely skint at the moment can anyone make any cheap/decent suggestions for me and at whjat price?

Tyres needed are 195/50/15's

Continentals are quite good, keep away from anything far eastern except yokohama.

Not found a best one I like yokos but they are poo in the rain once they are more than a few k old. The A510 on my mini were good in the wet though.

I've used Goodyear Grandprix and GT/GT2s on other cars and they were pretty good but no use for more modern cars. A friend had F1s on his puma and it wasn't happy, the F1 is a very squealy tyre.

Bridgestone S02 are supposedly very good but make yokos look long lasting. Pirelli P-zeros do a good job but cost ££££!

Falkens I would not touch, had them on my last car after a set of goodyear GT2 and they were AWFUL! A friend went from 'stones to falkens on an MR2 and the thing was undrivable in the wet.

Tyres are so down to personal choice though!

I went from Goodyear GT2 to Pirrelli P6000's.
a much better tire, fairly good in the wet but still quite pricey.
Stupid question I know but I have 185 55 r15s on my mk2 hlx alloys, can I fit a bigger tyre on them?
like a 195 55? as they tend to be cheaper, thats all.

i still defened F1's!


the old GSD2 wore quite quickly, but new GSD3 is lasting well!

i agree falkens are crap! especially the ones you normally get on 17" alloypackages!

definately need good tyres on 1.2! faster through corners means you dont have to worry about having the power to exit the corner quickly!

I would be very suprised if you couldnt fit 205's on there to be honest!!! most 15's take them, aslong as you wheels are 7J you should be fine!!

Pirelli P6000 195 50 15v on standard MK2 HLX alloys. Nice and quiet, decent grip in the wet, very good in the dry. Can't fault them but then i wouldn't until they let me down...
Not cheap I agree but if all the contact i have with the road is tyres, i'd rather they were good quality.

you've got 10 mm bigger tyres on yours then so it is possible as I have the same setup with oth the smaller version of the tyres on my 1.2
how mush did u pay for yours then mate, mine are circa £75

I was forced (had to do nearly 900 miles in a weekend) to buy them from Kwik fit @ £60 per tyre including fitting, VAT, valves, balancing and disposal of the worn set. £240 is a lot but they are good boots!

@Dan - Yes mate, you can fit 195/50/15s on them wheels (according to the handbook).

If only doing 2 at a time change the rears first then the fronts when you have more cash.
