Technical Tyre recommendations please

The Fiat recommended sizes are clearly shown in the handbook, and if anyone recommends another size, saying it's ok with the insurance companies, they are talking BO---CKS. The insurance companies check these things in the event of a crash, anything to avoid paying up, do you feel lucky?

Moving away from the insurance debate

Michelin recommend changing the wheels from 5Bx13 ET41 to 5Jx13 ET38

We know the tires physically fit but how well.

It would make sense to me to change the rims to a J bead profile if fitting 175 profile tire.

I know very little about bead profiles. In fact I didn't even know that the Fiat 13" wheels use a fairly obsolete bead profile. Now I understand why there is limited choice in the 155 size

5Jx13 ET38 these ARE the rims i have fitted to my 2009 eco!
Once again, they are the correct rims for my 175/70/13 tyres.
I have checked and checked again!
I wont post again because we will simply have to agree to disagree, you think you are right, i know i am right:)

Like I said the bead profile is all new to me.

Jack the car up. Taken the wheel trim off and I have.

5Bx13 ET35

Still a B but not the ET Michelin quoted

If you buy 155 width tyres on new steel rims then they are B rims

Check a few other listing. Any that are 155/80R13 on steel wheel are on "B" rims regardless of tyre manufacture. Anything larger is on "J" rims.

Are we sure the B isn't a typo? AFAIK all modern rims are Jshape. Same width, but lower offset. Maybe to prevent rubbing against the suspension?
Or to be able to mount snowchains.

gr J

Physically checked mine. In the rain :bang:

You can try yourself online here https://www.oponeo.co.uk/steel-wheels

As far as I can see. If it had 155/80 it has to be a "B" rim. 155/80R13 are only made as a "B" .

I can't find a 13" rim on a Panda that's anything other than a "B" except on eBay listings. Maybe Fiat made some versions that had 13" wheels and a wider tire at the factory. I don't know.

All 14" rims are "J"
