General tyre pressures

I swapped the spare today, so I have got matching front and matching rear tyres and I pumped them up to what is said on the little plate on the floor. 2 bar, which by my guage is 35psi.

After cleaning and polishing it I took it out for a spin and it feels really strange to drive.

Is the tyre pressure correct?, or should I drop it a few psi

Whilst I'm at it can you recommend any all weather/winter tyres? The size is 145/80 13 and currently I have Vredstein Sprint+T80 on the front and Fate AR 300 on the rear.

The spare is Pirelli MS Winter S-2 - I like the tread on this but being Pirelli they will come at a price

For tyres try Colway, they do all sorts of off-road tyres. I think 35psi is pretty high, try 32 or maybe 30. Usually it's a case of trying different pressures until you find a feel you like.

define strange... if by strange you mean like it's tryiing to bounce you off the ceiling if you look at a speed bump... then that isn't strange.

Colways are reasonable for a slow moving 4x4.

Strange as in bouncing and having to fight with the steering wheel when i go over bumps and slow moving turns the steering wheel snatches back so have to fight with it then

It has only felt like this since pumping up the tyres, I may drop it to 30psi and see how it feels then

Colways have been mentioned on the forum before, so I will take a look

Hey guys just fitted a pair of firestone winter tyres on the front of my valdisere today!!proper cool looking 4X4 tyre,just couldnt get hold of any pirelli winters out here in the south of france!!but chuffed with my firestones!
tried fitting a 3inch stripe down my car to cover up that vandals key mark all down the side of my car,it looked crap so gona find a plan B!! think it was tony who said it would look like gaffer tape and he was wright!!!would have a respray but so many original valdisere transfers to replace!!hmm!!

isnt 35 psi about 2.4 bar. 30 psi is about 2.1 bar i thought.


so that means you overinflated by 5 psi dont it ?

Roughly speaking 1 Bar is 14.5psi. So 2 Bar is 29psi. If your guage says 2 bar is 35 psi throw it away and buy a new one, it's rubbish!
