Hi Guys,

Couple of silly questions
1) I need new tyres for my 1.6sx and was looking at alloy wheels either 16's or 17's but don't understand what size I have to get with what profile tyre for it to be the same diameter as the original wheels. My current ones are 185/60 14 82H.

2) Does anyone know what make of tyres are the original fitment for Bravo's when they are made?

Thanks in Advance for any help you can offer.
Al

for 16" alloys you ideally should fit 195/45/16 though if its not lowered get 195/50/16's for comfort.

for 17" alloys you want 205/40/17 tyres.

as fior what tyres are OE, they tended to be different every few months. it depends who was offering a batch to fiat cheapest at the time.

yeah.
you actually knock the speedo accuracy out if you use 195/50 on 16's but only about 2%.

On the 17's you are gonna get a bit of a bumpy ride anyway, and i personally have not tried 205/45's on a 17" rim. i think it'd be a bit of a tight fit if you were turning and hit a bump or pothole.
I has 205/40/17s on but lowered 33mm and that was snug.

so, in conclusion, stick with 205/40 on 17's

Whats the diffrence between 185/55 an 195/60??

cheers
chris

I have 195/50/15 on my HLX alloys, far far cheaper than buying 185/55/15 tyres that were on when I got them.

Have just changed all four tyres on my g/f's Punto from 185/55/15 to 195/50/15 for 10 more than two would cost at 185/55/15

just done a search on mytyres.co.uk and 195/50 are alot cheaper, but do they look any diffrent?

chris

Neither here nor there.... they are 10mm wider and the side wall is 4.2mm slimmer (2.1mm all round), the speedo will read 70 mph when you're doing 68.99 mph.

69.8 actually ;) the speedo difference is hardly noticable. In terms of looks however 195/50/15 are better. Wider and less tractor like

The main advantage of finding a size like 195/50/15 is that there's more choice which drives the price down, it's a common size as most aftermarket 15" alloys will have 195/50/15 tyres.

*And BTW it IS 68.99 when moving from 185/55/15.... it's 69.8 when moving from 185/60/14 steelies ;)

well is it an sx, hlx or HGT? that should settle it, lol

195/50/15 is perfectly fine on the fiat alloys
