Blooming typical. Second I sing her praises I get a problem. After a cold night she started juddering and the revs were really uneven flipping between 500 and the standard 1000 idle.

Dabbing the accelerator made no difference, it just sounded like a lawnmower. After 2 or 3 minutes it leveled out and idled normally.

Does anyone know what it might be? I haven't started since.

Joi, It's an ELX 115 JTD 1.9. I am about to crank her up (v frosty outside)

hi guys,
It may be the diesel 'preheat' not coming in soon enough or hot enough, did you wait for the 'coil' light to go out?
could be fuel not getting to/not atamising properly at injectors.

dwbr, interesting you should say that. The pre heater coil light comes on quite late and flashes for a long time. I think I need one or two of them replacing. I also just got an alternator failure message followed by go to a garage.
