Morning all , just had my TA 85 remapped yesterday and was wondering if any others have had theirs done. All i can say is its saved me thousands on a trade in to a new 105 model that the stealer tried to get me to sign up for.
It obviously depends on who you're insured with and the individual but insurers don't alter the premium every time.
So is the 85 mechanically different to the 105?

This is the 3rd car ive had remapped , the previous 2 were a 330D Bmw and a Volvo V50 2,0D and neither gave me any troubles. The remap basically gives the 85 the same characteristics as the newer 105 TA model...after all the engine is identical.
The Euro 5 TA85 hasn't the same exhaust manifold as the TA105, but the Euro 6 TA85 has. The turbo is always different.turbo and manifold is different
I searched ePER for differences between the Euro 6 TA85 and the Euro 6 TA105. As far as I can see the following parts are identical:there may be other internal mods too.
I believe its up to about 111bhp and 185Nm now, but its not just the gains, it drives much more smoothly now. And it cost £140 from a local remapping companyIt was a polite request in the earlier post regarding cost of the remap, bhp output, dyno etc, but I guess you don't wish to divulge that info?
Also, if the turbo and manifold on the 85 is different to that of the TA 105, then might there be consequences in the long term on the engine and other components? I take it you won't be driving it like a standard TA 85 having gone to the trouble of a remap?
